He spoke decent English and gave us an enjoyable running commentary as we moved through the monumental axis zone focusing on Niemeyer’s key buildings and structures. We covered the best of the lot and the time allowed was ample and we did not feel rushed. But it was super hot today so we stayed under cover most of the time. We had a very nice cooling lunch at the amazing Casa de Chá Senac - service was impeccable and food was very refined. Flavio was very patient with us. - uruguayando26 contributionsBrasilia is a unique city (in the best of ways) that has one small pitfall: it was built for cars. Thus, exploring some of the main monuments by foot can be challenging, especially during with warm weather. Camelo has the perfect solution with super fun and engaging tours. Just like its owner says, “it’s like walking but faster”. My tour was personalized to my wants/needs, conducted in my language by a knowledgeable guide and left me feeling super informed about such a peculiar city. As an architecture enthusiast, it was not too technical, so I could follow perfectly; I would encourage everyone to join, regardless of their background. The team at Camelo was also super accommodating to my flight delays and requests in general. Also Vistor did not offer any compensation other than refunding an unrelated tour earlier in the day with another tour vomisng do that we had to argue with the latter and pay again so he would not be cheated out of his payment. - Miles L17 contributionsI had an exceptional guide, Maria, who was able to get me behind the scenes the greatest legal institutions in Brazil.
Because my interest is more in the striking architecture, it was amazing that I was able to see inside these buildings that would remain closed even to Brazilians let alone a UK traveller.
My favourite was the ‘soft centre’ of the Supreme Court building which although appearing to be a hulk of concrete on the outside was an incredible light-filled building, with a gallery, museum and radiant chambers.
The Labour Tribunal showed us how even modern buildings need constant care and attention, and the hidden roof gardens and the Franciso Brennan tiles were a real find. It was great to be able to meet and chat to some of the workers there.
Maria was energetic and full of ideas and helped me pla my itinery for the rest of my stay in Brasilia. We visited all the main sights and Irma adjusted the tour to my interests. I learned a lot about the conception and construction of Brasilia and what it is like to live there. Great for tourists that love to shop, with many stores. Daniel brought me to Fatima church, City park, Artificial lake, we also ride through the modern blocks neighborhood and he explained me all what I was wondering about these places. It was 3 hrs ride which I enjoyed it until the last minute. Thank you Camelo Bike. I saw a huge amount of the city and the ride took in a large section of the park and a ride on (sparkling clean) Metro too. Almost all of the ride was on segregated bike lanes or away from the road so it felt too. - CatherineManchester, UK34 contributionsWe did this as a double, combined with the Fatima district tour (2 x 3 hours). Both together, or either individually, are superb and highly recommended. Mauricio our guide really added to our enjoyment of the JK memorial & the Indigenous People’s monument with his additional background knowledge and we cycled on to see areas of the city we would definitely not have seen without him. Cycling in Brasilia is a pleasure - it is flat and leafy with many cycle lanes and the tour was at a gentle pace with regular stops. Highly recommended.
