- Mans71Currie, Australia309 contributionsHirosaki castle is a wonderful site to visit for the historical importance and the grounds. Currently the original site of the tower is being repaired however it’s even more interesting to see how they are repairing the moat wall. The grounds are beautiful to walk around.Written 9 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Rachelle LSydney, Australia66 contributionsWent in the height of summer and it was hot. However there were plenty of spots to sit down in the shade and appreciate all the flowers and foliage blooming in the park. Beware there is a lot of walking involved however due to the sheer size of the place it isn't crowded. Due to this it is a very serene place to sit down and take in the view or be with your thoughts.
The castle was also an interesting place to visit. Do not forget to get a commemmorative stamp at the ground floor as a souvenier of your visit!Written 22 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - John JWels, Austria5,505 contributionsMt. Iwaki rises alone from near sea- level, making it seem much larger than it really is. The views are stunning, and you cn see it on a clear day from the Aomori bridge and from the ferry to Hakodate, even.Written 9 May 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Rachelle LSydney, Australia66 contributionsCute little family day out. Perfect for couples and family who wish to have picnics in a serene place.
The information about all the different kinds of apples that they grow was interesting and the food at the resteurant and cafe were delicious.
It is a bit far out of the city centre and the buses do not come often but if you are looking for a quiet day out this is it.
Loved all the apple products too! Have a go at sampling the different apple juices on the menu and rate your preferences :)
There were apple tours and apple picking tours however I did not have the opportunity to go.Written 22 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Yan CHong Kong, China882 contributionsWhen it comes to landscape gardening, the Japanese have no equals. This is a rather large garden, consisting of two levels. The upper level has a teahouse and a traditional Japanese home, which is open to visitors. The usual landscape features are at the lower level, including a lovely waterfall. Unlike other Japanese gardens, there are not too many carved or manicured vegetation. The creator relies more on the natural environment, and this makes the garden less “artificial “. Overshadowed by the Hirosaki Park, there are not too many visitors here. This makes a leisurely stroll even more enjoyable.Written 8 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - hfot2 🌸🍁🌸Vermont7,604 contributionsHirosaki had an abundance of buildings in the Western/Japanese hybrid style from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Many of them are around an open plaza across and above the main entrance to the castle.
If you can’t visit all of these buildings, you can get a quick and miniature view of many of the historic structures by wandering around to the back of the library.
There are replicas of the historic structures placed along a walkway on the grassed area behind the library in the historic compound. There is a descriptive board with information about each.
Some of the buildings themselves are open to the public, as the City Library is, and others we could not get into but we could look into the windows to get a glimpse of the past.
Worth a visit for lovers of older buildings. The place gives you a real sense of history and days gone by.Written 11 March 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There were plenty of Japanese people walking to the top.Written 16 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - markelshoutBeijing, China268 contributionsApple road is a pretty drive through the orchards. It was just before harvest when we went through so plenty of apples on trees. Would love to see this during the apple blossom. It would be truly incredible I believe.Written 20 August 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Yan CHong Kong, China882 contributionsThis beautiful medium sized shrine has been overlooked by visitors. There are not that many visitors, which ensures a peaceful environment. The Shrine includes a five storey pagoda, which is elegant looking and which has been well preserved. The two rabbit statues in front of the main gate “guard” the Shrine. There are many high rise trees, which have changed their colours during this autumn season - a mixture of red, orange, golden yellow and green. Together they present a marvellous, beautiful snd breathtaking picture. The Shrine is a bit out of the way, but it is worthy of the additional efforts.Written 3 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
