- Hiroshi317Yokohama, Japan339 contributionsI visited here at middle of August so called “obon festival “.
Here is grave yard and install a lot of lanterns along the road and among the tombstones.
From here you can see city of kyoto even kyoto tower.
2024’s festival was over. If you will plan to go kyoto in summer, check out the date of festival.

In Higashiyama ward in Kyoto, there is an imposing mausoleum. It is on the top of a small mountain, and it takes about 20 minutes to climb the hill. However, it worth visiting. The entrance costs $1.Written 20 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- petertaylor57Auckland Central, New Zealand421 contributionsQuite isolated from the rest of the city, the Entsuji is worth a visit if only for its garden. The concept is the garden leads one's eye to the trees at the back and beyond to Mount Hiei. This is called 'borrowed scenery' and is a concept practiced in several Kyoto gardens, but none so spectacularly as here. The huge downside is the place is littered with 'No Photograpy' signs, so you can't take many of the memories back with you.Written 8 June 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kimitaka STaichung, Taiwan15,446 contributionsOn the way to Shodenji temple, I dropped in this temple. The main gate was closed, but on the right side of the gate, there is a slope driveway which leads to the main building. The stone Guanyin, the biggest of this kind, is maybe worth taking a look. There is also a terrace, from which you can enjoy a wide view of Nishigamo area.Written 8 July 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Froggie15 contributionsWorth the walk...or bus ride. Spectacular old trees and a lovely place across street for tea and sweetsWritten 31 January 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Kimitaka STaichung, Taiwan15,446 contributionsIt is an old temple near Shichihonmatsu street. Jigenji was built to pray the repose of Sassa Narimasa’s soul. He was ordered to execute a Harakiri suicide by Toyotomi Hideyoshi. The is a panel of explanation at the entrance, but apparently it is not open to tourists.Written 2 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
