This is another favourite walk from the river/canal, and up the tree-lined alleys along the small canals. The alley is lined with old houses, ryokans and restaurants. Round the corner, there are small cafes like an-main, before you see the rather jarring sight of bars and karoakes towards the main street.

You can often see rickshaws with passengers touring the alleys, with the pullers giving a brief rundown of the place’s history.

This is a very symbolic place for Japanese people, as it was once the goal of Tokaido. Today, it is still an important bridge over Kamogawa, and there is a station of Keihan nearby. The view from the bridge is beautiful, and every time I come here I realize being in Kyoto.

While the bridge isn't amazing itself, the walkways on the banks of the river are very nice. A lot of people go and sit near the water to just relax and on a day where the weather permits, it's a nice break from everything else. I enjoyed seeing people in everyday life running along the trail, people fishing and just the simple, everyday life. It was neat to see the houses lined up along the banks as well.

Lovely area that follows the stream down to the river. Well worth the walk through the area. Made me love this city even more

This bridge is located on the road going to Gion after visiting Haeian shrine. It has a very clean flowing canal in the middle with narrow roads on both sides. You can also pass by the Kyoto University and see some students walking and having their breaks. I had my picture taken in the middle of the bridge by very friendly university students. I didn't expect that the bridge is that historical but it's definitely a good view to take your picture - just be careful as the bridge does not have safety hand rails - very easy for you to tip over in a very clean canal.

We have walked this bridge last June and was memersised by its beauty. Purposely make a detour to cross it as we walked from Yasaka Shrine direction. We have intended to get to Gojo metro station (to the Keage Incline).
Gojo Ohashi Bridge is right at the exit of Gojo Shijo station. It offers a great view of Kamogawa river. Late afternoon view is just beautiful with ppe seating at the river bank and relaxing (can imagine rows of cherry blossoms in April. There’s even the romantic legendary story about the bridge…
A spot (park) on the western side of the bridge. During flowery period it definitely provides for a great scene for picturesque photo taking. A spot for a breath of fresh air, relaxing away from the massive crowd of Kyoto just minutes away.
To us it is worth a special visit

Among the bridges over Kamogawa River, Sanjo Ohashi is the most known. But Shichijo Bridge is also an important bridge, which links between Higashiyama ward and the area of JR Kyoto station. This beautiful bridge is the construction of Taisho Time, and the view from the bridge is also beautiful.

This bridge links between Keihan / Eiden Demachiyanagi station and Shimogamo Shrine area. So, there are many tourists passing through this bridge. From this bridge, you can enjoy a nice view of Kamogawa Delta, which is the confluence of Kamogawa River and Takanogawa River. In this season (at the end of March), cherry blossoms are also beautiful.
