Yumi was a very fun and enthusiastic tour guide. She explained the origins of the different foods we were trying and she explained how to choose a sake (how to know if it would be dry or sweet). We enjoyed all three stops, good food with a fun group of people.

First, our guide was excellent. Keen and always smiling. He helped with great pictures. He knew not only the standard facts about the sites plus unique perspectives. Second, while there are enough sites in Kyoto you really need three days to see them, the ones we saw were amazing. It was a "greatest hits" morning. The "pitch" of this tour is correct. Starting very early morning is essential to avoid crowds.

Very much enjoyed our tour with Aron and the group. Aron has a great sense of humor and adjusts the information he provides towards the interests of his audience. Not just standard storytelling. He’s also happy to help you with tips on what else to do whilst you’re in Japan since he’s seen it all. Highly recommend!

My wife and I booked this as we always try and do experiences like this when we go on holiday.

We were met by Aron promptly at the meeting point who was genuinely lovely and welcoming to us and other members of the tour.

We began our walk from the station where we had a drink and he began to talk about Japanese folk-tales and ghost stories as we stopped at points along our route, going into detail about some dark tales.

We were led into the darkness Arashiyama bamboo forest where more creepy stories were told. Upon exiting, we were told about real life horror stories from Japan which were all terrifying.

Aron made every tour member feel welcomed by speaking with them and including them all which is a sign of a great tour guide...and that was reflected on our amazing experience here!

We had a delightful day exploring incredible spots, even though the crowds and traffic made things feel a bit rushed. With our small group, we would have loved more time to browse the shops and food stalls. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly, speaking English well and providing insightful commentary at the destinations.

The highlights included Nara Park, where we enjoyed the fresh air, lush greenery, and the unique sight of deer mingling with people. The Todai-ji Namdaimon (Grand South Gate) and Todai-ji Temple were truly breathtaking, and we realised we need to return to fully explore the vastness of Nara Park.

We found Gion a bit underwhelming. It’s one alley with a few restaurants and traditional architecture, but it felt limited. With only 1.5 hours to spare, we rushed through lunch, but had one of our best meals in Japan, and didn’t have time to explore the Geisha museum or the shops on the main streets.

Overall, The earlier stops felt a bit hurried as but we enjoyed our trip as a small family of three.

We really enjoyed this sake experience. Greig our tour guide was fun, informational and applied a lot of local knowledge also. He catered well for both the beginner sake taster and the more experienced. Highly recommend doing this tour.

I took a trip with a family of eight adventurous eaters (late 20s-60s), and it was great! Yuina, our guide, was incredibly friendly, informative, and shared a lot of information about Japanese food and culture. She took us to a few spots at Nishiki Market (the tempura conger eel was our favorite) and then some very memorable, local restaurants: A seafood izakaya, a saki tasting, and a tempura spot. She ordered us foods we wouldn't normally have known about and we were eager to try.

I would highly recommend this experience and we all enjoyed Yuina's company and hospitality!

This was an awesome tour, I’d highly recommend it! Full of information and rich in history. Ken was happy to provide more information or context for any questions people had. The Maiko we met was super sweet and was overall an awesome experience. If you’re looking for an authentic, intimate (only 9 people were in our tour which was a good size), and fun tour - this is the one! Ken is also awesome and was happy to give us recommendations for other things to do in Kyoto.
