On the positive side - Our tour guide Shota spoke very good english which made it possible to have a smooth flowing conversation with.
On the negative side - We didn't receive many explanations about the area we were walking through as we progressed through the tour. It's also described as a personalized tour, but it wasn't what I expected. I expected this tour to resemble what it would be like if we met up with a local and he took us to places based on our preferences. Instead, we walked around the city with minimal explanations, and we had to initiate conversation and ask questions to get more details about our surroundings.
All in all, we had a pleasant experience but the tour didn't meet the quality we'd expect at this price point. His passion for the city’s history and culture truly brought it to life. Hugo shared fascinating stories about Japan. Tōdai-ji Temple, Nara Park, and the beautiful autumn scenery, making each stop meaningful and engaging. His knowledge of local traditions, along with his friendly and approachable nature, made the tour both educational and fun.
At the beginning of the tour, Hugo also shared a list of local restaurants and shops to visit. We tried one of his recommendations for lunch and another for coffee, and both were absolutely fantastic! Hugo also gave us great tips for exploring Japan further on our own. We went to chambers and we had such an amazing night. They played R&B in one room and then they played reggae in the other room.
They played music that was from my culture and it was so nice to see the Japanese embracing black music especially reggae.
The people there were amazing and so friendly I went with my partner who found other people there from his country Poland so that was good for him as well.
The drinks were cheap and very strong not like how it is in the uk the drinks are always watered down so you don’t feel the effect you pay for what you buy in Japan.

We went into bars and restaurants we never would have felt comfortable going in as "tourists." We were so pleasantly surprised at each establishment how we were welcomed and enjoyed interacting with the locals. My husband and I were the only ones on the tour, so we got a personalized tour. No one showed up, and I had the hotel phone their number twice, and no one picked up the phone.
I was still billed for the tour, but there was no tour.
It was a very disappointing experience.
