The region of Nizhny Novgorod is rich in folk craft. Here you will find not only famous matreshki and khokhloma paintings but also learn more about woodcarving art applied in facade decoration. There are many curious things in the museum: the biggest and the smallest check locks, the knives of original design (the smallest one is 1 mm!) et al. The museum is on the 4th floor of the modern building in which the souvenir shop is on the first floor. The entrance is on the right around the corner of the building. Unfortunately no English descriptions near the exhibit items are given.

A nice place to hang around, sometimes with very interesting exhibitions and young and welcoming staff to attend you. Really worth a visit.

Well, how bad could this place be. After all, some of it is dedicated to my family who were important here during early Soviet times. The curator was very friendly and even took my picture to add to the exhibit on my family. She gave me copies of pictures of my family history and asked me to sign the guest book.
