Although I couldn't get into the bank I found the facade of the building quite impressive. Definitely worth seeing.

Some time Nizhny Novgorod used to be called "Karman of Russia" (The Pocket of Russia) because right on the Nizhegorodskaya Yarmarka was held the main trade, not only between the russian cities and villages but also the tradespeople of many other countries arrived here.
The Yarmarka was moved in Nizhny Novhorod after the fire on Makarievskaya Yarmarka in 1817. It was very important event in the history of the city.
The Yarmarka took enormous space - about 500 thousand sq.m. at XIX centure.
The Russian industrial-artistic exhibition of 1896 was held exactly on the territory of Nizhegorodskaya Yarmarka.
Currently the main trade, industrial and other grandious events of the city are held on the Yarmarka.

Walking through the center, you will surely pay attention to the building "Trading House and Bank of the Rukovishnikovs", built in the famous Moscow architect Fyodor Shekhtel in his favorite style - modern in 1913-1916.
In the photo - the bank building, facing the facade on Rozhdestvenskaya street, house 23.
The figures of a worker and a peasant woman on the facade and elegant colored ceramics, stucco molding and contrasting white tiles attract attention.
