Although this famous staircase was being reconstructed, it was still interesting and attractive. Now best viewed from the embankment.

It is one of the best places I have visited in the city. Despite the overclowd, I really liked the place because it is a wonderful showplace to come with a family or friends . There are many cafes with tasty food and kind staff. Moreover, the landscapes are picturesque and lovely. More than that, people of the city are very responsive and friendly.
This place is definitely worth a visit.

Although I couldn't get into the bank I found the facade of the building quite impressive. Definitely worth seeing.

The embankment is a really nice place to walk, now that the renovation has been finished. Great views of the river and the land across the way.

This is one of the oldest hilltop promenade areas in town connecting Kremlin area with the cableway, about 30 min walk with good river views, excellent on a summer day yet windy out-of-season and chilly wintertime, downhill there is a vast green park. there are a few places for tea and coffee on the way and a couple of museums, so called Radio Lab for interested technicnology fans, Art Museum building with some second-rate European paintings and Makovsky`s famous Kozma Minin Call giant canvas, also Rukavishnikov Estate with some well restored XIXth century deluxe merchant`s house interiors, an idea for a rainy day. After all, this route is a way to save on taxi if you wish to do the cableway and Kremlin the same day, just close your eyes on some heritage buildings that still badly need restauration work

This is rather new monument in Nizhnij Novgorod, the "original" that Novgorod people built is in Moscow. Must to see if you are in the city.

This thing measures your electricity Amperage, I got 30mA myself, but two small kids, putting hands together, could not produce a single mA!

You'll notice this monastery when you come across the main bridge in town. Beautiful church interiors. Relatively small compared to the other monastery in town.

The Dmitrievskaya tower is so called the main gate to the Kremlin. You can't miss it :)

There is the exhibition hall inside of the tower where you can find clothes, household items, photos of Nizhny Novgorod a few years ago and other thing. The exhibition is small but interesting.
On the second floor, there is the exhibition devoted to birds, insects and animals dwelling in Nizhny Novgorod.
You gotta pay extra for taking pictures. It's just 100 roubles or about 2,5 euros. Though I doubt that they the have the same prices for foreigners. Sorry, but I there is nothing I can do about it :)

Besides from Dmitrievskaya tower you can go on an excursion along the Kremlin walls. It's very exciting and worth seeing. Really. You won't regret about spending money :) There is a fantastic view over there. I guarantee you'll like it :)

This church is famous primarily for the fact that from its porch citizen Minin called on fellow citizens to collect the militia and money for him during the Polish intervention of 1611.
The temple is small, bright, with a beautiful iconostasis and elegant frescoes on the walls.

A small mosque, not too far from where you catch the cable car. There is a gate, though it is not always open.

Eh-hmm, the tower name has nothing to do with Ivanovo town or the neighborhood region, first thing, the Russian "Ivanovsky Bashna" derived from the Russian name Ivan or John the Baptist , would be a more accurate description since St.John the Baptist church stands nearby ( white recently restored church next to the 2 guys monument) and it`s traditiona to name the street or building after a nearby church, monastery or convent, which used to be plenty around Kremlin... anyways, this tower as seen in the old photos was a simple cube-shaped for a long time used as a prison, inside there is a 3D plan of the olden Kremlin and some findings, mostly worth to explain a bit of history to the kids... if you take the walk along the Kremlin wall from tophill main entrance you could well exit thru this tower or visit another one next door, Zachatsky, that shows more of archeological findings
