We had a really great time at Jebel Akhdar. It’s about 10-15 degrees cooler than at the bottom of the mountain, so a nice 27 deg in September.

For those driving, as many others have mentioned there is a military checkpoint at the bottom, but if you have AWD (like many SUVs do) it’s fine to say yes to the ‘do you have 4wd’ question - they can technically drive all 4 wheels when needed so it’s not lying :)

When we were there, there was an event at the Anantara with multiple Audi saloons and Porsche 911 GT3! The road is in great condition and broad, the most important thing is to use engine breaking through staying in higher gear than normal on the way down, and not building up too much speed/momentum.
