What travellers are saying
- LeonhknyHong Kong, China21,484 contributionsThis is an upscale shopping mall right outside George Town city center. Popular among locals, Gurney Plaza is the perfect place to understand local lifestyle. There are some local brands for clothing as well as both Malaysian and international dining options.Written 20 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LeonhknyHong Kong, China21,484 contributionsThis is a modern shopping mall in Penang. Although the place in general is quite dead, there are still some nice boutiques with good prices. Food court serves quality fast meals with dirt cheap price. Tourists may take a visit if time allows.Written 20 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- The_Traveler010710Shah Alam, Malaysia3,098 contributionsWe came here to kill time after reached Penang at 8am. Many stalls selling handicrafts and food such as Penang Laksa, cakes, drinks, pastries and bread … etc. there’s also buskers at the centre stage.
You can buy food from these stalls and eat there. There’s plenty of tables and-chairs surrounding the area.

The mall has been renovated and having retail outlets like H&M, DIY, Guardian, Watson, Texas Chicken and many more. Can spend shopping one day here.
On the 4th level they have a very organised and clean food court serving variety of food from Penang and all over Malaysia. It is halal. Price is reasonable.Written 29 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The different types of tourist maps are really helpful for me as a person who wants to see more of the city. I was around the area near the bus stop so I managed to visit the mall for a couple of minutes. The vibes inside were like cheap clothes and phone accessories.Written 19 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - FOODIE888_9Singapore, Singapore39 contributionsA native friend recommended this market to go to for the best breakfast duck kway teow (flat rice noodles - gluten free) soup at only 6RM! There were also other local delicacies to enjoy like penang laksa, char kway teow, poh piah etc. Old school biscuit standWritten 1 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - dan2963eveGeorge Town, Malaysia438 contributionsThis food court is now very popular due to extended opening hours with most made on the spot drinks at a flat rate of RM 0.90. Don’t even have to go to balik pulau. The famous Balik Pulau laksa is available here.Written 5 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Suzi197London, UK413 contributionsFrom outside it looks art deco, but once inside failed to deliver.
Its bakery section is style over substance with not many ingredients in their individual small pastries.
We had a couple of good looking crescent shaped walnut topped rolls which we had with coffee but they were short on filling.
Wouldn't buy again just not worth it.
They don't sell duck!
CNY or not no ducks.Written 4 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - azra hSurfers Paradise, Australia440 contributionsmost beautiful murals on the ceiling, walls, beams. there are pictures from famous monuments from all around the world including the Opera House. the shopping centre is an extension from Penang Times Square which was built on the tin mining site in Penang. there is a statue of two men to commemorate that and they are both beautifully decorated in different styles. it is a pity they are like ghost towns. one of the shop holders told us he hasn't sold anything in 3 months. seeing they are the shops for the very wealthy he only needs few sales a year. but like everything else in Malaysia needs upkeep, reason and advertising to bring the people in. Best place to cool off as they the coldest aircon of all buildings and if you like peace and quite. we enjoyed looking at all the decorations and paintings but not the shops.Written 16 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - arif oKepala Batas, Malaysia64 contributionsQuite frequent went there with my friend. Alot of choices. Range from nasi lemak to roti canai, char kuew tiow, nasi set for ikan bawal and my spot is half boiled eggs with beans and toasted bread.
The smells and the way they mix it. Suite my taste buds. The price is generous and the ambience is awsome.
Normally pack in the morning amd super pack during weekend.Written 1 October 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
