We found great results, but some are outside Wakayama Prefecture. Showing results in neighbouring cities.
Limit search to Wakayama Prefecture.

We were lucky to have a fascinating monk lead us around for the day, pointing out the burial sites and historical references to almost every revered figure in Japanese history from Toyotomi Hideyoshi to Takeda Shi...
I love a nice tree and I have seen a few in my days but this location is the best I have seen yet (even better than Muir Woods!) the site is a 2 km stroll along a road that for 1200 years was the road into Koyasan...

Nice temple and beautiful to view, it is located in a little 'park' with other smaller temples and trees which makes it a very nice and peaceful walk through the park to the temple.
Definitely worth a visit as this large collection of temple buildings is a World Heritage Site.

classic temple sites in the mountains - accessible by bus from several of the coastal towns (day pass allows flexibility!) with the bus journeys giving a great view of the blue water rivers!
Beautiful views at the shrine and along the walk.
... it's a photogenic spot with an orange bridge and cherry blossom trees in the spring, and just past the first shrine is a 500 step steep trail with stone steps up to another shrine and a great view of the city,
Great view of the city of Shingu.
One of the major sights in Koyasan
It also offers a nice view of the rock garden.

If you are in the Osaka/Nara area or closer, and if you are interested in scenic nature or natural views, the Daimonzaka & Nachi Falls are MUST-DO experiences.
Kumano Nachi Taisha Nachikatsura-cho
It is a justifiable highlight with spectacular views of the pagoda, waterfall, cherry blossoms, temples, fountains.

It has wonderful view of river, park, and of course the bridges.
I visited it at sunset, and the views of the bridge from every direction made the visit worthy.

The largest torii in Japan stands on the original site of the Hongu Taisha, which has since been moved a few hundred meters away.

... the bay area (I combined it with a sail on the Santa Maria ship, which was also great!) It's a huge ferris wheel (it used to be the largest in the world!) and offers some pretty spectacular views, even at night.
Make sure to board the one with transparent cabin to enjoy the amazing view of Osaka port, and Osaka city which is really great for selfie!
