What travellers are saying
- Kathy LMiddlebury, VT10 contributionsBoldt Caste was beautiful. I highly recommend the Clayton boat tour (3.5 hours) guided tour up the Seaway with lots of history and highlights, leading to an 1.5 hours to tour the Castle before touring back down the waterway. Amazing adventure! Thank you to our guide, Captain and Mother Nature-Great weather. Lots of walking and I had a sketchy knee so I didn't enjoy the stairs but don't let that stop you!Written 4 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - reise31,090 contributionsThe 1000 Islands region is an absolutely gorgeous area of the river. It’s dotted with pretty islands & an eclectic mix of charming little cottages, massive summer homes, Boldt Castle, & more. Enjoy a laidback getaway with scenic cruising, recreation on the water, wineries, etc. Plan ahead for where to stay. There are some resorts, campgrounds, & appealing Airbnbs with river views & access.Written 2 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SPF04Canada288 contributionsWe arrived at 1030 am, went thru border control (CAN to US) must have a valid passport. Booked this cruise/tour through Rockport Cruises (CAN). We had a full 2.5 hours on the island. Was sad to hear they don't intend to finish it what a shame. Beautiful grounds and terraces. I would take a pinic next time and there will be a next time. $12.50 USD entrance fee and less than $100 CA for two adults for the cruise. Cheap day out. I wouldn't take young children and/or teens who will be on their phone the whole time leave them at home.Written 21 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Michael MDublin, OH44 contributionsA fun side trip, after being on the water. Do the Tour with the tasting's and get a chance to enjoy several of their wines.Written 13 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - davey1949Pickering, Canada410 contributionsPretty bridge with views of The Thousand Islands as you cross. Light traffic and friendly, professional border agents on both sides of the border.
The Duty Free Shop on the U.S. side was excellent. Good selection and lower prices than other crossings. Excellent, friendly staff.Written 10 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is a gem in the neighborhood perfect to fit this location in before the boat ride with the dock in the vicinity and it is free. It was a nice crisp walk in the morning with no one in the park. You can get a quick glimpse of the Boldt Castle from a distance along the river walk behind the hospital compound. I am intrigued by the Frontenac Axis in the park.. not much but a rock in appearance, but the information about it is rich and interesting to me. There are parking spots upfront and a pavilion with picnic tables inside. Meanwhile, there are also outdoor BBQ tables and setups for someone who have other plans as well.Written 28 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - VJ5Sarnia, Canada47 contributionsWe drove to the yacht house, and the shuttle was just pulling in so we immediately went off to the island. It is a very quick boat trip but nice to get that little time on the water. We toured the yacht house after checking out the castle. There are many lovely wooden boats and upstairs. You can see a sitting room and Library decorated in historical furniture and fashion. There is no walking tour, but one of the people working there gave us some basic information and there are also signs available telling you about the various boats. If you were interested in boats or history, it is in great to see this beautiful old wooden boat houseWritten 22 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JuneNY1,664 contributionsWe had some extra time before our boat tour, and I remembered this museum from a trip here twenty years ago. We were able to find it! It is kind of "off the beaten path", but it really should be advertised more since it is so unique and special.Written 22 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - PaleoGypsyPhiladelphia, PA2,140 contributionsThis is a wonderful state park that is located front-and-center to many of the attractions. You can see the Thousand Islands Bridge from here. Electric and non-electric camping options are available. Day-use options allow you to access the beach, bathrooms, playground, fishing dock, and launch. The grassy lawns are impeccably, well-maintained. Most people will be camping close to or near the water’s edge. Bring bug spray.Written 6 July 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Eileen LFleetwood, Pennsylvania, United States85 contributionsWe often enjoyed boat rides to Mary's Island and took picnic food, drinks and games with us here. There are a few picnic tables, a grill and dock for your boat. We did not go this year but have been here 8-10 times in the past 20 years. It's a lovely spot from which to swim, fish and relax.Written 17 August 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
