I booked direct with the official website and got confirmation with clear info about our trip and cost. We are a family of 5 and there is a discount on our 2 younger kids.

My enquiry messages are replied very quickly. On the day before the trip we got further confirmation of pick up point. Our driver Siri arrived 5 min before the agreed time and he drove us to destination with lots of introductions about Thailand, Bangkok and regions beyond. The whole day program is exactly what says on the tin. Everything went perfectly with a relaxing pace. Elephants are cared for ethically and you can feel the love in the community. Our children were looked after and helped in all the feeding activities and lake bath activities. Lunch was simple but nice. The whole environment feels so clean and calm. Gift shop is lovely. Shower facilities are basic but clean. Very well organised.

It's worth a look just to say you have been there. Totally missed the museum, and the train was not running. Don't know if it was understaffed on a Monday, but please check before you go.

An alternative to an organised tour is simply to hire a car which can take 3 people for about 4,000 TB. This means you can leave when you want and not bother collecting people from hotels in Bangkok. The direct drive is just over two hours and if you do the cemetery, death museum and a walk on the bridge that is another two hours - so the whole trip can be done in 6-7 hours instead of 10 or more by tour groups.

These sombre grounds are the final resting place of the around 7,000 Allied POWs who perished during the construction of the River Khwae Bridge. We visited along with the River Kwai Bridge to remember many POWs who died in Kanchanaburi

This line was originally built to supply Japanese troops in Myanmar during WWI, although only about a third of the original line remains, terminating in Nam Tok. I took the train from Bangkok all the way to River Kwai. The two Kanchanaburi stations are pretty, with a provincial flavour. Combined with visits to war cemeteries, it's a poignant reminder of how the Japanese treated occupied civilians and allied POWs.

Sure you could just take the bus from Bangkok. It'll be faster and more comfortable, but you'll miss out on some great scenery

This is without doubt the best museum in Kanchanaburi. It’s a lovingly curated museum dedicated to the history of the Burma Thai Railway aka the Death Railway. The museum gives a lot of information about the events that led up to the building of the railway. Although much of it is told from the Allied point of view, all the information is fair and balanced. The information boards give harrowing accounts of the working conditions. All of which are well written and informative. The models and exhibits are kept in wonderful condition. The entrance fee is pretty expensive for Thailand, but there’s no doubting the quality of the museum. The best thing I can say about this museum is that I learned a lot.

Went to Zoo to see how the animals were, this place wasn’t too expensive as some places can be quite expensive.
We hopped on a bus in the safari park and was taken around he park showing us the fallow deer and lions and cheetahs and tigers as well as a sport where we stopped to feed them and the giraffe who decided it was easier to put his head inside the bus to get all the food LOL much to the amusement of the children in the bus. The animals are well versed with the routine so if you want to get fed you come up to the bus to get the food otherwise you miss out, After the bus ride we walked around the other part of the zoo to look at many other smaller animals such as goats, macaw bid, meerkats and some younger cats that were in a seperate arrears and which you could feed as well. Wasn’t too bad a day here. For Farang its 300 baht each. Thai people pay less,

Sai Yok National Park is a medium-sized park, but has lots of attractions, including many waterfalls, rivers, caves, forests, and historical features. Great place to find Thailand's natural attractions.

Superb food, mostly cooked for you whilst you watch. I loved the ambiance of the place and the very chilled vibes. only 1 downside, but its only my opinion is the amount of sugar they put into the drinks. I always say no sugar.
I had the best fried chicken I have ever tasted next to the bus station, it was blooming delicious, just as well I only found it on the last night.
