Ol Doinyo Lengai is such a beautiful and special mountain. We didn't have very nice and clear weather on the mountain, at the beginning there was even some rain and it was cloudy. But it was still very beautiful, a little mystical.

We were on mountain with Maasai guide Issaya and mountain guide Emanuel from PMA Adventure Safari, who also organized everything: from Arusha to Arusha. Before climbing, we had a walk to Lake Natron, where pink flamingos gather. The guides told us about all the mountains around, about Lake Natron, the flora and fauna and more. We also went on a fantastic canyon walk through the river canyon to beautiful waterfalls. Swimming in the waterfalls was wonderful and fun. I can't say enough about the spectacular and otherworldly landscape.

We started the hike at midnight and reached the summit before sunrise. We were quite fast, so we had to wait about an hour and a half, before to go to the top. Reading the reports on the website, you would think that this climb is only for professional climbers. If you are fit, you will climb in 4 hours, spend an hour on the summit and descend in 2 hours. Be positive mentally, listen to your guides and you will have an unforgettable experience.

I advise you to go there with a good car and an experienced driver, as the road can be rough. We can barely get through some parts, there were some floods on the road and without a good driver/car I don't know what it would be like.

Our guides were professional and responsive and helped plan every detail. The knowledgeable and friendly guides made sure the adventure was safe and enjoyable.
If you are planning your trip to Tanzania and want to climb mountains, I recommend PMA Adventure Safari. Emanuel is a professional guide, passionate about his work and ready to be by your side from the first day at the airport. Emanuel's number: +255753326575

Nearly all of the reviews left here are of Ngorogoro Crater. Ngurudoto Crater in Arusha National Oark is beautiful, but you cannot enter it, nor are there any lions or rhino in Arusha National Park. 🤨

Highest recommendation for Augustine's Adventure Africa
    Review of Augustine's Adventure Africa
    Reviewed April 14, 2016
Let me start this review by stating that my husband and I give our HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION to Augustine’s Adventure Africa (AA Africa) for a visit to Tanzania. There are not enough superlatives in the English language to adequately express our satisfaction with every aspect of our trip as planned by AA Africa.

While I wanted to go to Africa most of my life, my husband clearly did not. He was taking this trip grudgingly and said the same to all our friends. At the end of the first day with Augustine, he got down on his knee and apologized to me, saying it was wonderful and he loved all of it. And it was only Day 1! I credit that solely with Augustine’s Adventure Africa and the trip perfectly planned and coordinated to the finest detail by Augustine and his staff. We were so pleased, we are planning to return and bring friends!

You will see the words “surprising” and “amazing” throughout this review. That is because, while Augustine came highly recommended to us, we were still surprised how this trip exceeded all our expectations of what the experience would be. We credit Augustine with providing us with the trip of a lifetime.

PREPARATION. Augustine provided us with a detailed itinerary and information package which gave comprehensive information about what to expect, what to wear, what to pack, etc. In addition, he answered all my questions promptly and clearly via email. And I asked a lot of questions!

STAFF. We spent ten days with Augustine, who is a naturalist and our driver guide Elisha. Again, there are not enough superlatives to describe them. Anyone can drive you around and let you look at the sights. With Augustine, you get an amazing experience. He has 20 years’ experience and is so knowledgeable about his country, the various ecosystems, the people and their cultures, plant life, birds and of course, the animals. We learned so much from him and it made the trip extraordinarily special. He is also gracious, thoughtful and funny. Elisha, with 18 years’ experience, was an incredibly driver who navigated the bumpy roads with amazing skill. We consider him the finest driver we have ever seen. He too was a kind and thoughtful man. We were humbled to spend our trip with such fine people.

AIRPORT. Augustine had highly recommended that we obtain our Tanzanian visa in advance, and he was absolutely correct. At least 120 people on our flight did not have visas and the line was out the door. In contrast, we were the 2nd couple in line for customs and on the road long before everyone else. Again, go with an experience company that provides on point direction and advice.

Once we had our bags, we went to look for our driver. There were lots of drivers waiting for guests, but only Augustine’s driver had a professionally prepared sign with his logo which we spotted immediately (everyone else had handwritten signs). Augustine stood out right from the beginning. We knew we had picked well.

ACCOMMODATIONS. There are all levels of accommodations in Tanzania, like anywhere else. Augustine selected top places, at his recommendation and at our request. If you are going all the way to Tanzania, why would you basically “cheap out” with the places you will be staying? Not smart. We were so very pleased with all the places we stayed. We were actually surprised how wonderful they all were. From the Kibo Place Hotel in Arusha to the Lake Masek Tented Camp in the Serengeti, we were extremely pleased. Actually, we were more than pleased: we were shocked. Each place was comfortable, clean and surprisingly luxurious. Each place also had excellent staff and services. My husband, who can be a bit of a hotel snob, LOVED each place. Fabulous!!

GAME RUNS. I don’t even know where to start. Whatever our expectations were, Augustine far exceeded them. We saw more animals in any one day than we thought we would see the entire trip. We saw animal behaviors that were amazing. What made the experience so much better was having Augustine explain in detail everything we were seeing, answering our many questions clearly and concisely. Because words cannot adequately tell the tale, I hope my photos can. Trip Advisor would not allow me to post a link to my photo album of our trip. We dedicated the book to Augustine and Elisha, because, to be perfectly clear, they made the trip our adventure of a lifetime. We cannot thank Augustine enough.

I don’t know what else to say. If you visit Tanzania and do not go with Augustine’s Adventure Africa, it’s your loss.

    Asante sana.

My husband and I kicked off our honeymoon with a 5 night, 6 day northern circuit (Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Manyara, Tarangire) safari through EASTCO. We were pretty overwhelmed with the number of options and operators to choose from initially. Of the ~6 companies we spoke to, EASTCO stood out as not the cheapest, but good value and a respectable, local company - we are happy with our decision. David was very informative throughout the planning process and made it a breeze to get exactly what we envisioned through a catered itinerary - communication was prompt and instructions thorough.

The trip itself was incredible and mostly seamless. Wilson was an excellent guide with 12 years of experience and so much knowledge (never needed a map or directions, answered non-stop questions for 6 days!) - he also had a good sense of humor and was a pleasure to be around which is important given the time spent together. He would speak to other guides along the way to get intel on animal sightings, was flexible but made sure we got everything we were looking for, great spotter and was on-top of permits, timing, etc. Unfortunately our Land Rover had mechanical issues our last day, but Wilson was quick to problem solve and had a backup vehicle pick up from the lodge within a few hours - in time to make our flight.

The itinerary was well planned as far as pacing and activities and we thoroughly enjoyed each of the Lemala properties we stayed in (especially Nanyukie). We opted to go during low season which meant cooler weather, discounts on lodging and MUCH less crowds. We were impressed by all of the parks and the huge variation in landscapes between them, but Serengeti and Ngorongoro are not to miss if you have limited time. Flying one-way to Serengeti was affordable, a cool experience and allowed for a full extra day game drive vs. driving 6+ hours from Arusha. Can't recommend this experience or operator enough :).

The Napuru waterfall is beautiful and the hike there and back is very serene. We took a tuk tuk to and from Arusha which was about 15000 tsh. When we got there we had to pay an entrance fee of $10 US dollars which was 28000 tsh because the lady said it varies depending on conversion rate. She made us pay by card and wouldn't accept cash. Then a local guide approached us and took us to the waterfall. He gave us a short option 2hours or a long option 3-4hours. We took the short option and it took us 1h 15mins in total including stopping at waterfall. It is only a 1.5-2km hike to Napuru/ Mt Meru Waterfall but the track is very serene and peaceful. There are lots of creek crossings. It is down hill there and uphill on the way back. The falls were quite popular with locals and were very pretty. It is well worth visiting. We tipped the guide at the end. Overall, I would recommend!

I had the pleasure of working with Stephen for over 2 years, planning this once in a lifetime trip. Stephen was patient with all my questions and itinerary changes. We had a private tour. The accommodations he picked were indeed luxury out in the bush. The people of Tanzania are welcoming and gracious.
And there are not enough adjectives to complement Joachim as a driver/guide. A masterful driver on the worst of roads, made sure we were comfortable, picked the best spots to get our pictures and was very easy to get along with and a great sense of humor. With all the dusty roads and dirt tracked into the vehicle, each morning we got into a clean truck for the day’s drive. Joachim has a wealth of knowledge of the animals, birds of his country.

We were on a private 8 day/7 night safari for 2 people and visited all the major national parks in Tanzania including a walking safari and a night game drive. We loved every minute; the scenery is outstanding, we saw the Big 5, the Great Migration and many animals and birds. Walter at Galloping Safaris was very quick to respond to our many questions and tailored the safari to suit what we wanted to do and to fit our budget. Nothing was too much trouble. Our tour guide, Macho, was professional, fun, friendly and excellent at spotting the wildlife. He was really knowledgeable and explained about the wildlife, the area and the culture. Our accommodation was excellent and all meals were provided and of high quality. This was a trip of a lifetime and we would thoroughly recommend it.

We went for a four days safari with Safari Sasa. Safari Sasa took care of every detail according to our requests and really helped us make the most out of our Safari. Deb answered every email very quickly and professionally. They both met us at the airport and from that moment we felt like being with good friends. Abi is a very experienced guide, he knows exactly where to go, when to go and made sure we experiences all we hoped for and even more. We saw all the big five and soo much more. Abi shared his knowledge and we learned so much about Tanzania and the nature and wild life. Our only regret is that we did not go for more than four days!

We had an unforgetable trip with Matoke Tours(/easy travel)! Our guide, Abisai, was the best! He has a lot of knowledge about the animals, birds and nature in general. He is a really good (and safe) driver, “gezellig”, modest, really kind and caring. Especially for my mom, who is 74 years old. Also, Abisai knows all the good places in the national parks. He knows every road, that is a great advantage. He could find us all the good stuff 🤗: we had amazing and very memorable animal encounters! We saw all the cats, even the small ones, like the caracal and the serval. With Matoke’s special car for photographers we had a good view and good (low) angle opportunities to get very nice photos.

Zadock was an excellent driver, teacher, and guide. He communicated well with us, made sure we were safe, and checked in on us to see how we were doing. Because of Zadock we were able to see the BIG FIVE! If we had the opportunity for a second Safari, we would definitely ask for Zadock. Thanks for everything Zadock, my wife and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

I did a Safari 10 years ago (on the cheap) so this experience was so much better as per the accommodations, which were quite lovely. But the Safari experience this time was absolutely amazing. Our guide, Yusuph, was wonderful and he brought us to the Indutu park which allowed us to go off road. Everyday had at least two "Oh Wow!" moments. The entire experience was fantastic. I highly recommend Lion King Adventures (and especially Yusuph) if you are planning to Safari.

had an exceptional experience on our trip, and a huge part of that was thanks to our driver, Azaria. From the moment we met him, it was clear that he was not only professional but also deeply dedicated to making our experience unforgettable. Azaria went above and beyond to meet every single one of our needs and ensure we were comfortable and happy throughout the journey. His attention to detail and care truly made the difference.

Equally impressive was the seamless coordination and flawless execution of the program by Soul of Tanzania. Everything was so well-organized, allowing us to fully enjoy our trip without a single worry. The team behind the scenes ensured that everything ran smoothly, and we could just relax and soak in the beauty of Tanzania.

We highly recommend both Azaria and Soul of Tanzania for anyone looking to explore this beautiful country with ease and comfort. Their dedication and passion for what they do are unmatched, and we couldn't be more grateful for the amazing experience they provided.

For sure we will book again with Soul of Tanzania and our driver will be Azaria.

We recently did a 7-day safari with Meru Slopes, and it was an unforgettable experience. Our driver and guide, Douglas, made us feel welcome and comfortable from the very start — like we were part of his family. His deep knowledge of the local culture and wildlife was impressive, and he answered all our questions with patience and ease.

The organization of the tour was flawless. We didn’t have to worry about anything, they took care of the entire trip for us. The flexibility to adjust our daily plan to suit our needs was a huge plus, and the unlimited water, soda, beer, and wine throughout the trip kept us refreshed at all times.

Having booked with other agencies before, I can say that Meru Slopes was definitely the best. If you’re planning a safari, do yourself a favor and book with them. And if you can, ask for Douglas as your guide — you won’t regret it!
