Located in a city beside Taipei, however it is very conveniently reached via the high speed rail. Quite a huge outlet mall and judging the time my wife took (6 hours), shopping must be great. For non shoppers like me, there are ample seats for you to catch up with planning your itinerary in TripAdvisor. There are also a few restaurants here selling local and western food. If you are a tourist, don’t forget to apply for your tax free here and to collect the refund at the airport.

We enjoyed the night market and exploring the local cuisine. We tried the stinky tofu, eggs with oysters and smoothies. Prices were very reasonable.

There are a number of scenic routes and walks with this nature reserve. There are farms, walking trails, cafe and restaurants. Moreover there are quite a number of bed and breakfast or family hostels within the area. You can book a bed and breakfast and spend 3 to 4 days and drive and walk around the nature reserve

We came here straight after touched down from Taoyuan airport. Stayed at Daxi Laocheng, Si-Ji-Xing-Guan that was 10min walk to Daxi old street.

The shops looked modern yet mixed with old architecture. A good half day stroll to eat and sightseeing.

Family of 5 (kids 8, 11, 13), drove there in rental car which is necessary if you want to explore extensively. The entire area is kind of a national park with multiple areas of interest all of which are quite a distance apart and none of which are easily accessible using local transportation. The reservoir's claim to fame is as one of the major national building project in the post-WWII era and thus serves as an iconic symbol for the nation. We just went to the reservoir, but there are many other points of interest near by and you can spent a whole day there to make the most of the entrance fee. It's not a must see by any means, particularly for foreigners who might have seen more impressive reservoirs. But it's a good place to mingle with locals and see how they spend their day off. There are reminders of the Chiang's (old ruling presidential family of Taiwan) in many places, and you might be able to spot some local disdain for them. In general there are plenty of scenic spots throughout and the kids enjoyed exploring. Some areas are not very well guard-railed or separated between pedestrians and automotive traffic so be sure to hold on to the little ones.

Pros: scenic, good for local spotting, many areas to explore

Cons: safety measures are lacking for pedestrians, difficult to visit without your own car, not well marked particularly for foreigners, local cuisine seem over-hyped

It's a very good amusement park especially for small kids. I have visited this place since I was a kid. At that time, I wasn't quite impressed with its exhibition and facilities, but after many years when I revisited with my kids, I felt quite impressed with its improvement. Kids and I had a very good time. Least but not the last, all of the staff are very friendly. They always answered my questions with smiles, everyone of them. The only defect was the food. Not so yummy... We only tried fried chicken with french fries. Even though these are fast food, I still hope they can provide fried chicken and french fries with professional quality.

The National Central University is located in Chungli City. The campus is quite pleasant, a welcoming environment for study. The university is an addition to Chungli's intellectual environment. The architecture of the University is varied, from traditional to contemporary..

This picturesque park is a highlight of Taoyuan City. It lies between the central area of Taoyuan and the suburb of Guishan. "Hutou" means "tiger head" in Mandarin Chinese. The mountain has a number of interesting features, including cherry trees which bloom in spring. There are also playgrounds and BBQ facilities. There is a good view of the night sky from the mountain, it's something of a lovers' haunt. By the way Taoyuan, literally translated, means "the peach orchard."

A very nice park, with lots of well maintained trails. Maps in English are available at the ticket office, and the signage is great n Chinese and English. No fear of getting lost. There’s is a decent looking restaurant on-site, but we did not eat there. WEAR HIKING BOOTS! There are a lot of roots on the trails, some serious ankle-twisters. This is a bad place to wear sneakers or sandals. The drive to the park is lovely, but rather long and confusing. I would recommend against a casual tourist trying to drive their own rental car in here. Get a local friend to drive you.

When it comes to enthusiasm, few others can match Taiwan's baseball fans. The fans cheer, chant, sing, wave and give maximum encouragement to their local heroes. Baseball is Taiwan's national sport. Taiwan's top players sometimes go on to be champions in the American Major Leagues. Taiwan is a top hunting ground for American scouts. The Taoyuan International Baseball Stadium is easily accessible by Taoyuan MRT and Taiwan High-Speed Rail. When the weather is sultry, it's a good night out.

On our 1st day after arriving from Honolulu(after a Tokyo night layover), we took a taxi ride from the Novotel Taoyuan Airport Hotel to this multi-story shopping mall. Arriving an hour earlier than they open, we walked around the neighborhood and visited a Hi-Life convenience store and had a Chinese Baked Bao.
Upon opening at 11am, we entered the Metro Walk Mall and spent 4 hours walking from the basement floor, taking the escalators and elevators up the various floors to see hundreds of shops selling LG appliances, Nike and Timberland clothing, Apple products, H&M merchandise, jewelry, shoes, clothing, Lego, toy shops, and a multitude of dining choices and different foods and pastries.
On the top of the mall is the Skywalk and includes a cinema with many movies to view.
