Gyeongju was a true gem of an experience; and Peter was the best jeweler to show off its beautiful facets. It is expected that all tour guides to know about the historical significance of the sight. What made him absolutely brilliant was his ability to read what we wanted without us having to be specific. His guidance to the perfect photo-op spot and ad-hoc photographer was immeasurably helpful. His impeccable timing to visit to palace at sunset to yield the best evening views unspoiled by the bus loads tourists that came just as we were leaving.
The lunch meal was a beautiful and delicious affair at a small family restaurant.
If this is your first trip to Korea or if you have not been to Gyeongju, don't miss out on this city; and certainly don't hesitate to request for Peter.

A great tour that gets you to almost all the major sites in Gyeongju! We loved having both structured information/tours and free time at each site. The timing was great to for sunset and after-dark sites too. I wish that there had been a little more background/history/information given by the guides. Most of what they shared was high-level information that was replicated by signage at each site.

Note: we did this tour on a Saturday and every site we went to was very very crowded. To the point that it made us want to rush through just to get out of the throngs of people. I would highly suggest avoiding the weekends if you're crowd averse like us. That also meant there was crazy traffic within Gyeongju. Looking at the map, I wish we had walked between sites instead of sitting in 10-30 minutes of traffic.

    We really enjoyed the trip.

Our guide was kind and helpful. The mini-van that we went around with looked as if it was new and well maintained and was cleaned inside every day (it was raining and we brought mud inside but the next day it was clean). The hotels we stayed at were all really clean and some of them were actually beautiful. I think we won’t be able to find a room with the view like the one of the “Ocean Resort” hotel anywhere else. The places we visited were interesting. We loved the Buddhist temples. We were able to see many towns and cities.

Most local people understand some English, but still there is a language barrier. It would have been almost impossible to find these places on our own and get there. If you can’t speak Korean, book a trip with a guide.

We definitely recommend this one. We got a lot more than we expected.

The stops were great. Our guide was personable. The bus was clean. The only thing that wasn't as advertised was that our group was about 35 people in size (as opposed to 10 people max).

A fully packed tour with lots of beautiful sites. Our guides Jay and David kept us going to a timely schedule with lots of time for taking photos, lunch and toilet breaks. We had an added bonus visit to see Muhly grass! David is a photographer and shared tips on where to take the best shots! They also shared recommended places for lunch which was much appreciated! I truly recommend this tour!

    Busan Review

A quick summary before the details - This was one of the best tour experiences I’ve ever had. Our guide Jade is a class act, super friendly, highly knowledgeable and curious host and we quickly made friends and hope to see him again. The itinerary is perfect for a relaxed tour of some cultural sites, and the temple stay was peaceful and unique.

    The details:

Being our first trip to Korea, we took a train to Busan from Seoul Station and stayed at our hotel overnight. After a 16 hour flight we were a little jet lagged, and needed to be in the lobby at 9am to start our day.

We met Jade just outside the lobby to a warm greeting, and he packed our bags into a super comfortable van. In our ride he provided us water, and we talked all things culture and Korea. We instantly connected! Jade is super worldly and knew all things pop culture both at home and far away.

We visited a cultural village and had a delicious tea. Jade is extremely knowledgeable of his history and culture and made it easily digestible for us.

After the culture village, we had lunch at a local spot at Jade’s recommendation (which was fantastic) followed by a delicious tea. Then, it was time to check into the Temple for our overnight stay.

To say the temple was fantastic was an understatement - it was a quiet evening full of warmups, yoga-like stretches and exercises, followed by a fantastic vegetarian dinner and an early night to sleep, which our jet lagged selfs definitely appreciated. The accommodations were modest and separated by male/female, which was a little strange but traditional for the Buddhist culture.

The next morning we were up at 5 am for chants, walking exercises, more yoga-like activities, with extremely knowledgeable and patient staff at the temple. After a fantastic lunch it was time to check out of our relaxing temple stay. The views and scenery were serene and wonderful, and Jade was waiting for us for the second leg of our tour.

The second leg hit a lot of excellent cultural sites quickly, and Jade gave us an excellent narration of what we were seeing and its importance in Korean history. I found the temples fascinating, and specifically the burial mounds and nature surroundings were a highlight.

After a pretty packed second day Jade took us back to our hotel in Busan, giving us enlightened conversation in the process and filling our books with tons of stuff to check out in his hometown of Busan. A quick note about Busan - leave a few days to explore this beautiful coastal city with a laid back vibe. We checked out a beach on Jade’s recommendation, along with the BIFF Busan International Film Festival) site, and the fish market.

All in all, we really loved this tour experience and found Jade to be an excellent and knowledgeable guide who made it truly special. We hope to stay in touch.

We usually travel on our own, but this time my friend and I decided to take a one-day tour from Busan to Gyeongju. Our group was small, with only 5 people in total and the driver. It was a very fun trip to Gyeongju because all the travel companions and our tour guide were very wonderful. Gyeongju is a very special city with its own special sightseeing. Most places were like a fairy tale, with very picturesque views. We had enough time on our own. The guide also told us a lot about the history of the city and its attractions. We are very happy and grateful to be able to participate in this tour. We highly recommend this tour and our tour guide.

Overall, this tour is definitely worth it to give anyone an overview understanding of Korean history starting from the Silla. For those who have more time, I would propose at least a 2 day visit but for us, we only had 1 day so this is pretty good.

We did not have any problem getting to the train station to catch our bullet train and the local guide was waiting for us on the platform when we arrived at Geongju.
