- RochellePerth, Australia932 contributionsWe loved our visit to the monkey forest
If you follow the rules and be careful you should not have an issue!
For $8AUD per adult and around $5AUD per child it’s a relatively cheap thing to do for families
Once you enter - you can spend as much time as you want walking around and exploring the sanctuary. It’s a beautiful rainforest too after all
Monkeys are everywhere - but they are well behaved (mostly). Just use common sense and look after your belongings - don’t have things dangle down that look appealing to grab.
You can get photos with them - for $5 AUD. The workers will use your camera and you get LOADS of photos!
It’s nice to see the monkeys just playing around and being themselves.Written 23 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Very steep in parts but the general well being of completing it and taking in the fresh air was well worth itWritten 14 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Joe B6 contributionsLovely setting for photos with a lotus pond in front and temple background. Can get too crowded with selfie takers, though.Written 28 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- J DUnited States141 contributionsWhat a wonderful museum, displaying great pieces of artwork including paintings, sculptures and photographs by Balinese and other Indonesian artists as well as by expatriate artists, including Dutch artists and others who lived in Bali when Indonesia was still a colony.
Architecturally the museum's buildings are splendid as is the lush garden that surrounds the various galleries. Visitors should plan on spending 2-3 hours in order to fully appreciate the Neka Museum's large and impressive collection (luckily there's a nice small café should you wish to pause for a break).Written 24 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. While we viewed the waterfall from the viewing platform, it was also possible to get closer walking down the many steps. From the parking area there were vendors selling food and goods. Worth a quick stop for us when we were not up to the walk to get closer.Written 22 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - YogiOnHolidayPortsmouth, UK40 contributionsThis is a very beautiful walk - no more than about 2.5 miles in total. Take it slowly and take in the views, the wildlife - butterflies, ducks, egrets, rice heron, cats etc. Talk to people who live there - maybe a fruit seller, or sarong/drinks seller, and your visit will be enhanced. The way back and down into town is a little tricky unless you are nimble and sure-footed and not recommended in wet weather, but it is do-able. The cafe along the way, the Sweet Orange Warung was a treat, with specialised coffees and warm welcome with gorgeous views. It is easy to do this walk without a guide.Written 29 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Storyteller6323378 contributionsGetting started on a trip of a lifetime! We are so happy to recommend Bali Eco Cycling! The whole day tour was a revelation of THE Bali! The staff and everyone we were introduced to were so friendly and helpful in understanding each part of the day’s activities, such as stopping at rice paddies, visiting a host family compound with a tour of their farm, a coffee plantation, and an ancient banyan tree. A great breakfast buffet with a view of Mount Batur, weather permitting, and a delicious lunch at the end of the ride. Bikes and gear were provided as well as rain ponchos and refreshments. Very informative and pleasant! You are going to be amazed! A special thanks to our guide Wayan!

Similarly, its external and internal architecture are lovely, and its rooftop, accessible from the terrace exit on the second floor of the museum, contains some lovely sculptures and wonderful views of Ubud and the region surrounding itself.
The artwork by Antonio Blanco and his son is interesting (as are some of its frames), and for prospective visitors who would like to learn more about Blanco, his biography in Wikipedia is worth reading.
Entrance fee is reasonable -- just over six US dollars. Photography inside the museum is not pemitted.Written 19 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. But back home, everything taste so sweet, like it's full of sugar, very disappointed, if that's th case...it's misleading and cheatingWritten 25 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Constance BRutland, MA189 contributionsDefinitely a great walk through the rice fields. I enjoyed seeing beauty of all the green colors and listening to the water running down culverts for the fields. Maybe took an hour. Had to stop because the trail narrowed and was too muddy.Written 26 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - David MCape Town Central, South Africa321 contributionsour guide was wonderful spending time explaining the whole process and answering any questions, coffee and tea samples were interesting, the coffee is really good and you can taste the difference, but be prepared to pay if you make it your daily drinkWritten 7 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Vivian L10 contributionsThis was one of the highlights of my Bali trip! The visit to the local markets before cooking was a great way to get to know local ingredients.
Cooking 7 dishes with a group of 15 was such a nice size. It really felt like team work. It was hands on, the staff were fabulous, knowledgeable and friendly.
The food was just delicious!! If you’re going to Bali and looking for a cooking class, I can’t recommend this class enough! You won’t regret it. The price is very, very well priced compared to other places and worth it for the experience.

On arrival i was greeted by him at the entrance to his Jungle after walking through his organic garden, with his dreadlocks hanging near to the floor and a big healthy organic smile.
Instantly i knew that this was the ideal place for me.
Slowly walking up the steps into my treehouse accommodation trying to take in all the jungle and nature around me.
The treehouse was unreal! So simple so unique! It drops off probably 20m from the balcony into the deep jungle with a river and waterfall at the bottom!
Waking up at 6am with a very slight few strips of sunlight shining through the jungle canopy, it was torrential rain and i had never felt ever before the pure deep form of mother nature like that!
Laying in bed with the large glass windows in front dropping off into the deep wet jungle!
The sounds of running water and birds, frogs, monkeys literally i did not want to leave this moment.
3hours later i finally prized myself out of my trance to start the course.
Breakfast was a huge tray of fruit all from the garden then a main course of salad and ubi (potato) all obviously grown by hars and picked early morning by Hars while i was daydreaming into the jungle haha.
What i learnt from this dude was not just how to grow great organic food but how to live in this world with the ecosystem and not against it, also how to create a ecosystem on my land in Sumbawa that was partly destroyed by corn farming.
His information was golden and his mission in life (to save the ecosystem and work with nature) also to educate the word on how to grow organic food and to work with nature not against it.
Using his own techniques and also others from hundreds of years ago.
Basically he is a all time hero and the course was very beneficial to me and my family to create a new life over in Sumbawa living from the land and working with Nature.
The course was supposed to be 2 days but i booked a extra day in because there was so much i wanted to learn!
Overall i done 3 days 4 nights there, the three hour course a day was not really enough for me to take everything in, ideally i would like to take a week course 8hours a day haha but obviously Hars has a life too and to steal his time that much just wouldn't be fair.
When i left he kindly gave me over 30 different types of herbs and strains that i could bring with me to sumbawa.
Now all i need to do is keep them alive and spread hars knowledge to others who are grownig using monoculture techniques destroying the ecosystem.
Thanks Hars and good luck with your future project in Sumba!
