What travellers are saying
- SB01Sonning Common, UK944 contributionsThe marker and shops runs up a narrow and busy road very close to the Palace. Apparently the original location was damaged in a recent fire and the current location is a bit of a make do. To be honest the stalls were mainly very repetitive and not that much different to any street market. Far too much seemed mass produced and identical to what is in the shops near our resort. There were a few decent finds, so might be worth a visit.
Ubud itself is a nightmare place. It’s got some character, but the traffic is epically bad. It took an hour at least to get there from Sanur, barely getting out of second gear, and a distance of 14 miles. Took even longer to get back.Written 7 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. You can find something within your budget and stare in awe at the pieces that are out of your budget (like I did!). Multiple rooms split in their different areas of art (modern, fine art, etc). One of the staff walks with you so can answer any questions and also advise on price. You can haggle but only within reason and they may need to go and ask the artist before confirming. What I loved is that when you purchase you have to sign the forms that list the price because they want transparency with the artists. I could have bought so much more but had to restrain myself.

Parking available, opening hours 7.30am to 10pm daily. They carry a nice selection of fresh fruit, veg along with canned foods, coffee, drinks, wine, snacks and much of what you'd expect to find at your local supermarket back home. You'll find a good range of international products to complement local Bali and Indonesia food and drink brands.Written 12 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sharon OCaloundra, Queensland, Australia38 contributionsI stopped by this shop after noticing it when walking into main area. I was pleased to buy earrings and wooden mementos. Whilst it was more expensive than tourism centre, the quality and uniqueness was just what I was looking for as a memento of my first trip to Ubud.
The owners were very welcoming.

I learned more in two lessons than my 16 weeks in NYC! It is an amazingly beautiful open studio surrounded in natural beauty.Written 28 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Asha SChicago, Illinois, United States26 contributionsI am a painter but I brought my 75 yr old dad, 65yr old mom and sister to the class with zero experience and they LOVED it. Gusti was an amazing teacher. He’s very patient and truly believes in the value of art - we took forever to finish our paintings but he never rushed us. It was the perfect activity to do where you can be together but separate at the same time. Would go back again and do one of his other classes- small paintings or wood carving.Written 9 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - EsteveJFSan Francisco, CA52 contributionsExcellent and varied collection of vintage art. Donna and Made were nice folks to deal with; we bought 2 items we are very happy to have. Highly recommended for those seeking high quality vintage Balinese art at reasonable prices.Written 3 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Adam E4 contributionsAstounding, amazing artwork! Blown away by the talent, set up and friendliness. Our taxi driver had stopped here on the way to Ubud centre as I was desperate to see artwork in Bali and it did not disappoint! The sheer talent, time and thought gone into these pieces of work left me speechless - I had never seen hand paintings like these in my life. I had chosen an outstandingly intricate and impeccable piece of traditional Keliki artwork. The front of house/owner was so genuine, talented and welcoming, the piece of artwork I chose happened to be painted by his own very teacher. He took the time to show me around the gallery and explain the story and meaning behind mine and various other paintings. In my opinion the value they set are very reasonable and worth every penny however I did negotiate on the price. I love how they inspire and teach the younger generations to carry on the tradition. If I had any artistic talent in me I would have definitely loved to attend a class. A must go if you're into art! 10/10Written 12 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Scott D20 contributionsThis Master Mask Carver’s workshop is very easy to get to from Ubud centre, and is well worth the visit. This gallery contains the work of a multigenerational lineage of master carvers and painters, and the work you will find on the walls here is not what you will see in the tourist markets. Expect to have your mind blown with the intricacy and exquisite detail of everything in the shop. The designs and colour palettes used in this work transcend the normal work you will find around Bali in the more popular shopping markets and offer you a chance to purchase something truly special which touches at the very heart of Bali’s ancient traditions of handicrafts and storytelling. Do not expect to haggle these store keepers down to fractions of the asking price. The work is priced fairly and is of a level that can easily demand a premium, and you are directly supporting the efforts of one of Bali’s celebrated craftsmen and descendants. The women running the store were friendly and helpful, and wrapped our purchases for shopping after we had selected a few small pieces. Photography was not allowed but you will need to see with your own eyes the magic in this little hidden gem of a spot.Written 7 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Vinnie ACamberwell, Australia7 contributionsThis was an amazing experience. The brothers here are so friendly and welcoming. Came here with a 14 yo and 11yo. My 14 yo daughter loved the experience of choosing and eventually designing her own ring. From beginning to end they helped her craft something beautiful and unique. My 11yo son wasn’t too interested to begin with. Until we suggested making a pendant of his own choosing. He eventually decided on a sword from a video game he plays. The guys at the store worked for 2 1/2 hours with him to bring this to reality and he was bouncing off the walls with excitement. He was involved with each step. See attached photo. This was a truly memorable experience made even better by the warm and friendly team. We walked away with some amazing memories and some mementos that are better than any craft market souvenir. To the team at Ubud Baki Silver, Thanks guys for devoting so much time, enthusiasm and skill into this little project. I wish you every success!Written 26 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- tropicman86Noumea, New Caledonia122 contributionsOne of the best photo book I ever read.
What an incredible immersive sight of Bali, through amazing landscapes and nature, but most important: people! Thanks to this young photographer Damien, I travelled to Bali from home and met such interesting and beautiful people through his book.

Following an email request Soemantri and the team helped me to track down the artist of a painting that we had seen during a visit to Ubud 3.5 years ago. Not only did they find the artist, but much to my surprise and delight the actual painting was currently available. They then facilitated a negotiation between the artist and I. Once a price was agreed, Titian also facilitated my payment (from the UK) and organised the shipping. I have now received my painting and I could not be happier.
I have been blown away by the courtesy, attentiveness and integrity shown by Soemantri and the Titian team throughout the process. I wholeheartedly recommend this gallery.Written 7 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It’s like a museum inside with incredibly beautiful textiles. The prices reflect what the women should actually be getting paid for their labor and craftsmanship. They also have an online shop. I loved seeing the handmade items and wish I had more time to spend there.Written 25 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - PaoloVallejo, CA90 contributionsWe enjoyed visiting the gallery, particularly the upstairs works, but the manager, Wayan, then invited us to come back and observe a painting workshop with the artist, Wayan, whose work that we loved was featured upstairs. Fabulous, so we booked our own private painting workshop for a couple of nights later.
My wife and I love the workshop. Wayan, the artist, was supportive and attentive to our individual styles. Wayan can also work with children.
It was one of the highlights of our trip to Ubud. Komaneka guests can get a discount on the workshop.Written 9 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
