- vijaytravelsMumbai, India150 contributionsCamel's Back Road connects the two ends of the Mall Road providing a longer, very quiet, winding and, most importantly, a level route compared to the steep inclines of the Mall Road. Provides for a nice, leisurely 30-40 minute walk with good views of the mountains and valleys.Written 20 March 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- johnnbSilver Spring, Maryland38 contributionsMostly a ruin, but much of the White Album was written here. Many little meditation huts which postdate the Beatles, but you can still walk through the bungalows they stayed in. Now managed by the govt as part of Rajaji Tiger Reserve. Entry fee of Rs 600 for foreigners, 150 for Indians is steep by local standards. There is a small cafe and photo gallery. It's a bit of a walk from town, so you might want to take a taxi and ask them to wait for you while you visitWritten 19 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Surya KatakamHyderabad, India1,706 contributionsLakshmana Jhula is the one of the most visited place in Rishikesh which is situated in Tapovan region. Located @ 4.5 km from Rishikesh town. Tera Manzil temple is located other side of this Jhula. From this bridge one can have spectacular view of Ganga river and surrounding areas. This hanging bridge made with Iron. length of the bridge is 450 feet long and is situated at the height of 70 feet from the Ganga River.
This bridge is very narrow one used for pedestrians which connects the two villages. on West bank Tapovan in Tehri Garhwal district to Jonk in Pauri Garhwal district on the East bank of Ganga River.
History:
It is believed that Lakshmana crossed river Ganga at the same spot where the present bridge is constructed. Lord Lakshmana crossed the river using just two ropes. Lakshmana crossed the river at this location by using Jute ropes hence this is called as Lakshmana Jhula. which was 284 ft long and was there in use till 1889. To honor this Lord Lakshmana's act, Iron Rope hanging bridge is constructed here in 1929 and name is continued same as Lakshmana Jhula. The original bridge was washed away in 1924 floods. The newly constructed present bridge is opened on 11th April1930 to the public.
