Papu was an amazing guide during our time in Varanasi! His extensive knowledge of the city’s history and culture made our experience truly special. He led us through the narrow streets, sharing fascinating stories about the temples and the rituals along the Ganges, and provided us with valuable insights into local traditions.
What sets Papu apart is his enthusiasm and passion for Varanasi. He made us feel welcome and ensured we could truly experience the essence of the city. His personal touch and the way he kept us engaged made the tour unforgettable.
I also appreciated that he was always open to questions and allowed us to explore at our own pace. Thanks to his guidance, we not only saw the major attractions but also discovered hidden gems that we would have missed otherwise.
Overall, if you’re looking for a guide in Varanasi, I highly recommend Papu. He truly makes your visit to this beautiful city special!
the famous Dashashwamedh Ghat is a main ghat in the holy city of Varanasi which is located on the pious Ganges River. this ghat is close to Vishwanath Temple.
Morning aarti happens at Assi Ghat (called Subah e Banaras). Can also do boating after aarti at Rs 50 per person. They bargain a lot for boating. I saw they also charged 200 bucks with someone. So be smart. It's a pleasure to see the morning sun rise at the aarti and boating
Where people reach to attain salvation, one among the lively Ghats of Kaashi , we can see the dead bodies cremated and at any point of time 4 to 5 bodies are in the que,
Overall place is pretty safe but beware of shop vendors & local people who are always trying to make extra money off you. Place was very filthy & smelly. Garbage was scattered everywhere, cow poo & dog poo could be seen everywhere. Very noisy & populated environment. Good for those who enjoyed bustling & noise places. Clothes & food are very cheap.
Visiting the Banaras Ghats in Varanasi was an unforgettable experience. The ghats are the lifeblood of the city, offering a mesmerizing glimpse into India’s rich cultural and spiritual traditions. Watching the evening Aarti ceremony was particularly moving, with the vibrant rituals and chants. It’s a must visit if you are in Banaras. But just be cautious while negotiating with the boat drivers, for a personal boat they will charge you a lot.
A must visit temple of Hanuman is a short drive from Godoliya Chowk. After a morning puja of Kashi Vishwanath, this ancient temple of Hanuman is a must visit. Very peaceful place with a big garden and a beautiful statue of Shankat Mochan Hanuman.
Surreal experience. The city was a pleasant surprise. Didn't expect to see the level of cleanliness that we experienced. Except for the sea of homo sapiens (was expected) and loud honking(difficult to ignore) every thing was truly exceptional. The boat ride on the river Ganga followed by the Aarti is an experience which is difficult to describe. One may feel the aura this place exudes. Be prepared to stand in the long queues at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple (cant put into words the soul stirring experience.) Avoid going on Mondays (the lines are killing). Very good facility for people needing assistance(wheelchairs etc) and even the toilets are super clean and well maintained within the temple complex.
Also visited Sarnath (30 mins from the the TAJ.) Its a must visit.
Enjoy Neelu kachori in the by lanes near the temple. Shreeji dairy's Malaiyo (ohhhh so not to be missed) Both the places are easily reachable by following google maps.
Stayed at the TAJ Ganges. Awesome service, truly a TAJ experience. The restaurant - Varuna is not to be missed. Tummy would be full but the soul would not be satiated. don't miss their Dhua daal, Achar mein latpate aaloo, kalonji baingan and a potato starter(don't remember the name, its coated in sesame seeds) The Staff - Abhilash (excellent steward)and the Chef (the brilliant food architect) guide u in making the right choice. Ask for Puni the Bar tender for some good drinks suggestion, makes it to your liking.
Kashi truly makes one feel as standing on the gates of heaven. The countless temples dedicated to all the Gods of HINDUISM and Jainism takes us on a spiritual journey thats only to be experienced by body and soul.
Kudos to the UP government for maintaining the level of cleanliness in the temple town and in MAA GANGA in an over populated county like ours and with lacs of devotees thronging the city everyday. Its truly next level. SEEING is BELIEVING.
