- prajwalThe Netherlands1 contributionRuchika patiently guided me through a collection of paintings, explaining their meanings with care. She took the time to ensure I appreciated each piece. I booked one and also scheduled a painting session with her. Definitely one of the best experiences to try in Banaras!Written 9 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is very clearly sign posted, both from the river side and from the town side. Krishna, his brother and their father were very helpful, patient, understanding. There is no pressure selling at all, they state the price and you like it or move on. No bartering, makes a lovely change! The prices seemed very reasonable compared to some of the other places we had visited (where the "silk" was probably synthetic!). Krishna explained the different qualities of silk and showed us the huge array of colours. We only looked at scarves but they were absolutely beautiful. We intended buying one but came out with three. It was also great so see a large group of Indian women walk in and look at sarees. This is NOT a tourist place, it is a genuine silk factory shop (the factory is further away from the Ganges, so as to avoid polluting the water with the dies) catering for locals and tourists alike. Would definitely return if we went back to Varanasi. A little gem with very friendly owners.Written 29 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Darvinya P2 contributionsRaju is an amazing Hindi Teacher.
Method: He knows how to teach Hindi to an English speaker by explaining grammar and sentence structure in a comparative way to English. This makes it easy to start speaking on your own. Raju is thorough and detailed orientated in his work and he works hard to make sure that you can speak Hindi well.
Personality: Raju has a lovely personality. He's funny, inspiring, he knows when to push you and when to support you and he really does bring the culture of India into his class.
Overall, I highly highly reccomend working with Raju! It's a life changing Hindi learning experience.Written 4 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sara MBasel, Switzerland30 contributionsWe entered Baba Blacksheep thinking that I was just going to have a look around but I was very wrong. Kasim, the lovely shop owner, showed us plenty of samples from the fabrics he had in the shop and explained to us thoroughly how to tell apart different quality of pashminas and silk. He was incredibly kind and invested at least half hour of his time to answer all our questions in detail. Pay a visit and you won't regret it :)Written 11 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Zach PHanoi, Vietnam16 contributionsSuch a wonderful, well curated bookstore that reminds me of my bookshelves back home. The owner, Rakesh, is the nicest man, too. He is helpful and well read, he knows his shop, and his prices are fair (usually better than online prices). If you are in Varanasi, and want something to read, be it fiction, poetry, history, or otherwise, this should be your first stop.Written 14 January 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We have been so lucky to meet Pryia few days before the Diwali, walking to the morning cerimony in less than 10 mins of conversation she has already invited us to join her and her family for the night of the Diwali. And it was only the beginning of the big heart of this family (and precious experience as guide of the sacred Varanasi): the day after we visited Sarnath with her husband, excellent official guide himself, and notecing that I wasn't feel very well, the nignt he prepared for me an excellent not spicy dinner. We spent the night of the Diwali with the family and other travellers, being part of the tradition has been an unforgettable gift. Thank you so much Pryia! We wait for you in Italy.
