- janakshah89Ahmedabad, India253 contributionsThe ghats of Varanasi are evergreen and this being one of them ! They never fails to amuse you !
Only cleanliness is something that should be taken care off.
It has a Lord Shiva temple located on it which is believed to be very ancient !
Beware of the crowd there. The place is very shabby and way too crowded for someone to enjoy the beauty of the ghats.
It has a palace (a small one though) was once famous for its mannual elevator when automatic lifts weren't in use in the past.
Even today one can notice the same in new form being operated at Darbhanga GhatWritten 21 September 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The mythological significance of the Lakshmi Kund in this holy Hindu city is due to the belief as a body of water linked to the Hindu belief of resurrection and reincarnation.
The water tank and the surrounding area are in a deplorable state. There is rubbish around the entrances to the kund. All sorts of things have been dumped into the water and people were dumping leftovers of rituals, including oils, lamps flowers and other offerings while I was there. There is so much rotten and decomposing matter in the water now that its has turned a sad shade of green. I can’t imagine anyone but the most religious would think that bathing in Lakshmi Kund can wash away their sins, such is the level of pollution.Written 9 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
