What travellers are saying
- Nathan LTilburg, The Netherlands5 contributionsPapu was an amazing guide during our time in Varanasi! His extensive knowledge of the city’s history and culture made our experience truly special. He led us through the narrow streets, sharing fascinating stories about the temples and the rituals along the Ganges, and provided us with valuable insights into local traditions.
What sets Papu apart is his enthusiasm and passion for Varanasi. He made us feel welcome and ensured we could truly experience the essence of the city. His personal touch and the way he kept us engaged made the tour unforgettable.
I also appreciated that he was always open to questions and allowed us to explore at our own pace. Thanks to his guidance, we not only saw the major attractions but also discovered hidden gems that we would have missed otherwise.
Overall, if you’re looking for a guide in Varanasi, I highly recommend Papu. He truly makes your visit to this beautiful city special!Written 23 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Morning aarti happens at Assi Ghat (called Subah e Banaras). Can also do boating after aarti at Rs 50 per person. They bargain a lot for boating. I saw they also charged 200 bucks with someone. So be smart.

- Oscar RPBrazil123 contributionsGo to Dashashwamedh Ghat at 17:30 at the latest, otherwise it would be difficult to get a “seat” to see the ritual, (by seat i mean a step of the Ghat) it gets crowded very fast from that time on.Written 5 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - chhavi j34 contributionsVisiting the Banaras Ghats in Varanasi was an unforgettable experience. The ghats are the lifeblood of the city, offering a mesmerizing glimpse into India’s rich cultural and spiritual traditions. Watching the evening Aarti ceremony was particularly moving, with the vibrant rituals and chants.
It’s a must visit if you are in Banaras.
But just be cautious while negotiating with the boat drivers, for a personal boat they will charge you a lot.Written 24 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. If you go to Sarnath, don't miss this place. Statue itself was difficult to photograph in the mid-day sunlight, but I imagine it would do beautifully at sunset - the statue faces West.Written 23 April 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - gayathri sharmaMumbai, India19 contributionsThe only slightly redeeming feature of this place is the view from the outer wall of the palace. Otherwise it's a poorly maintained desultory place. The museum exhibits are dusty and barely visible behind dark enclosures. The collection of arms is impressive but displayed in a cavernous hall behind dirty glass enclosures. Hardly any explanation of anything and very little in English...that too after charging foreigners Rs. 200. The palace itself is nothing great ...not a patch on the ones in rajasthan..fort is a misleading term ..it's a biggish haveli with a wall around it. The outer part is on the river and the view is good but not worth the trouble of walking through the museum. A temple dedicated to the sage vyasa is on the premises and might be of interest to some. Overall it's avoidable.Written 19 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

It seamlessly blends contemporary aesthetics with traditional elements, providing a refreshing and serene environment.
