This is one of the prime historical areas of Lucknow and one has to see it to believe it. The technology used to built the huge dome with unsupported pillars, the Labyrinth (Bhul Bhulaiyan) are worth the admiration.
One needs a guide to visit this place and charges are other than the entry ticket.

While visiting Lucknow one cannot miss this place. It houses lots of commercial complexes and eateries. The place is expensive but comes to life in the evenings. A must visit place while in Lucknow

During the siege of 1857, the British Residency was used for a vast number of Britishers to reside. The structure built much earlier by the Nawab of Lucknow has remained in its ruined form ever since. A good visiting place for the history lovers!

Went there for morning walk with family. Loved the experience. There is enough greenery to keep you fascinated and engaged while keeping the smog at bay. You can go there for walks, runs or bicycling. You can even rent the bikes if you want. We went early morning which was great because we didn’t have to pay the tickets and it was not very crowded. Most people there were with families for morning walks as well. It is well maintained with some food options inside the venue as well.
I’d love to go there again on my next trip to Lucknow.
No tickets before 8 am I believe! And a walk here can be a great start to your day especially before it gets too hot.

Was quite pleasantly surprised with the architecture of the main building. It is spread across big area and one would be happy to see the art work in the college. Do insist on visiting the main building and see it from inside.

This is a gate with excellent architecture wherein from one side there are three stories and from the other side it is a single story. The architecture and motifs are pleasing and remind of Awadh architecture and intellect.

Visit chowk to see the real old Lucknow chaos of people and vehicles. Also, the famous Idris biryani is located here. Unfortunately it was closed for renovations.

This is located next to Bara imambara but the similarities end with the name only. From the outside the structure is good but Bara Imambara is worth the visit.

After checking out from Hotel Hilton we planned to visit Dr Ambedkar Memorial Park before taking our flight for Delhi as we had heard a lot about it being one of the modern tourist attractions. The memorial has been made in the memory of Dr. B R Ambedkar, one of the most popular social reformer and famous lawyer who drafted Indian Constitution after independence. That is why many people visit it and we also wanted to visit it. The credit for the construction of the memorial goes to the top leader of a political party of downtrodden and backward masses who had come to power in the State of UP. During our earlier trips to Lucknow about 45 years back, we had seen various well known historical monuments like Chota Imambada, Bara Imambada, Residency etc. and so we did not want to go there. However, after reaching the memorial we were disappointed to see its vast Lay out of stony statues. It is not a park and to go around the whole area of the Memorial during a a warm day (even in the month of March) is very tiresome, particularly for senior citizens. The time of our visit was around 11 AM and because of stony structures every where, without any shelters, we felt very uncomfortable. There is no greenery or shelter in this so called park for visitors to have some respite. The memorial occupies a large area with stony statues of elephants and icons of some leaders also. There are several stoops and structures with inscriptions. There are a large number of elephant statues and even these elephants have been made on the top of towers spread throughout the park., because elephant is the symbol of that political party. Whosoever had designed this Memorial should have taken care to plant trees and shelters from rains or sun. As such, this place should only be visited in evenings or on cloudy days. Because of shortage of time we did not go inside the halls and galleries exhibiting items in the memory of political leaders and social reformers of India.
