Majestic. Took the guided tour. Ease of entry as long as you observe the not to bring items and enjoy walking through the monuments. Do read some history on it to help you appreciate those artisans and architects alike.
Sweltering heat in autumn and do wear appropriate clothing and head cover.
    My bucket list and dusted

An amazing complex to visit with such fascinating history and stories! We recommend always having a good guide to negotiate and move you around the most important parts of any ‘sight / site’ visit! Our guide @sunnyur_travelpartner #sunnyur_travelpartner has been fantastic for all our tours, also including: The Taj Mahal and the Baby Taj!

The SOS bear and elephant rescue centres are located an hour from the centre of Agra. Regardless of distance we decided we wanted to visit to learn more about the animals and support the work they are doing and booked a taxi driver for the day at a cost of 3,500RS. Visiting the 2 centres also presented an ideal opportunity to visit the Tomb of Akbar the Great which is on route and quieter than the main sites. We contacted SOS direct to arrange our tour as you cannot just turn up. Visits are limited for animal welfare.

We had a really interesting educational tour of both SOS facilities. If you have a passion and interest in animal welfare then you will enjoy a visit here, however if you are expecting an experience that is similar to a zoo then you will be disappointed. They ask for a donation of 2,500RS per person and we were happy to pay this as we really enjoyed our tour. It is also important to understand that without donations they are unable to continue the amazing work they do. Hearing the history of the animals is heart breaking, however we felt happy this organisation exists and there are people who work so hard and passionately to ensure the animals can live out the remainder of their lives in a happy place. Note there is also a small charge levied by the bird sanctuary. This is because SOS is located within the grounds and unfortunately this charge is unavoidable. This was slightly frustrating, as birds are only there during the winter and were there out of season.

In summary a very special place.

There are Sheesh Mahal, or palaces of mirrors, in Amer, Lahore and Orchha. The one in Agra Fort is less impressive than others, but still worth a visit - if only for the beautiful pietra dura flowers in the white marble. And, anyway, you've paid your ticket into Agra Fort, so may as well.

Great views of the Taj without any crowds. But the park has poor access. Parking is bit far, you might want to take a battery operated rickshaw. Park is poorly maintained. A wasted opportunity

this was an interesting enough performance, but expensive at about AU$70 (We booked for our tour guide so no doubt he got a cut… Not sure how much it is directly) for a show that lasts about an hour to 1.5 hours. Interesting show, and it is sung in Hindi, but to keep up with the spoken bits it has headsets at each chair that have 20 languages, we had English language, and while the system works in terms of Listening to a translation the volume made it a bit hard to hear. If you’re not too worried about spending a couple of bucks on a night out, I’d recommend you do this so you can just tick it off as something done, interesting but it’s no Phantom of the Opera.

The Shah Burj (also known as the Musamman or Muthamman Burj) is a domed tower that was built sometime in 1632-1640 CE at Agra Fort by Shahjahan, on the site of an earlier similar structure built by Akbar. The Shah Burj was the site of the jharokha-e-darshan, a 'window' from which the emperor would provide his subjects a daily morning view of himself, to reassure them of his safety and well-being. In Jahangir's time, this also became the site where a thick metal chain was attached, reaching to the ground and allowed to be pulled by whoever wished to appeal to the emperor's sense of justice: the 'adl-e-Jahangir'.

The Sabz Burj offers a fine view of the Taj Mahal. Shahjahan, imprisoned in the chambers beside the Burj by his son and successor Aurangzeb, is supposed to have looked longingly out at the distant view of the mausoleum he had built for his empress.

Lovely women working here, great drinks and handmade sale items - all run and made by women victims. A café run by a wonderful local initiative supporting the survivors of acid attacks in India ✌️💪🏼.

I highly recommend purchasing from this store. We were taken here as part of our tour. First, we were educated on the process of making inlay marbles, which was very manual and time consuming. The work was done by the descendants of the very people who built the Taj Mahal. They are also the ones doing renovation work at the monument. Due to the amount of hand labor involved, some of the artists lost their fingerprints. I felt the urge to bring home a piece as a reminder of the stunning beauty of Taj Mahal. This shop has a large variety of inlay marbles for various purposes, from table tops with Taj Mahal depictions to chess sets. Additionally, the people are focused on keeping a good reputation and building long term relationships. When I contacted them about an issue with the purchase, they quickly resolved it and followed through. One tip: everything in India seems negotiable, so make sure to do your research around pricing so that you are fully satisfied with your purchase. Keep in mind there are fake inlay marbles out there so look for true comparable benchmarks.

Fantastic experience. I got a facial massage and a hair spa done and the entire experience was supremely relaxing. Loved how my skin and hair felt after. The staff was courteous and very accommodating of my needs/ flexible with time. Not priced exorbitantly. If you do visit, I’d recommend Poonam and Jayashi for your spa sessions.

This is the most reasonably priced souvenir shop in the entire city. They are well stocked with marble and non-marble stuff. Owner is friendly and you do not need to worry about the hidden price. We went to a few different stores but none could come close to this shop when comes to price for the same items. I highly recommend everyone to at least stop by there if you are shopping for souvenir.
