- CJB12345678 contributionsWe visited two of Wildlife SOS’s sanctuaries whilst staying in Agra. These are not zoos but have been created to provide sanctuary to abused elephants and sloth bears. The aim of the charity, in addition to caring for these beautiful creatures which have endured horrific cruelty at the hands of humans, is to educate people including tourists about the horrors of elephant domestication and bear dancing and ultimately end these cruel practices - including elephant rides for tourists. Thankfully bear dancing is now illegal in India but the bears are still being poached in the wild. Elephant domestication is still not illegal in India but the charity is committed to its goal of ending it. The staff were so incredibly knowledgeable and the respect and love they exhibit towards the animals they care for was inspiring. We were shown around the bear sanctuary by Ruman and the elephant sanctuary by Himanshu both of whose knowledge about wildlife was amazing. We felt so grateful to the staff and inspired by the wonderful work Wildlife SOS are doing. In addition to providing sanctuary to these creatures and spreading their educational message the charity also helps the people who depend on the exploitation of these animals to find other ways of earning their livelihood often in the case of the beautiful craft work which you can buy in the shop directly helps spread Wildlife SOS’s message further.Written 29 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Compass627680812491 contributionMehtab Bagh is realy good specially either in early morning and evening. Taj Selfie point is also near by [This is maintained by UP Government]. But parking to this place is not well mainitaned. even fater paying Rs 100 for car parking, you have to either walk for ~1km or shell out another 100Rs for local autos. Where as locals, Government Vehicles can go close to both Mehtab Bagh and Taj Selfie point.Written 4 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Geoff HSissinghurst, UK18,023 contributionsIn the heyday of the Agra Fort these gardens were the principal square in the living apartments of the ladies of the Royal Household. They were nothing like the gardens you see today, which are pleasant enough in their own right, but were used for growing vines and flowers. At the rear of the gardens, overlooking the Yamuna River and well worth a visit, are the small, but exquisite, Roshanara Ara Pavilion and the Jahanara Ara Pavilion; which have a history all of their own.Written 29 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Rohit SHyderabad17 contributionsYou need a good cloudy day in summers as it can get hot but don’t expect a lot if you are going in summer. Migratory birds come here in winter which is the best time to go.Written 9 October 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - RAJENDRA884 PRASADFaridabad, India3,455 contributionsWe, a group of 2 senior citizen couples, took a break at this point, which is not much publicized and found it to be an excellent point for educational tourism, especially for school going kids. The entire project was very well explained by a caretaker officer, making us aware about the environmental impact of polluting industries around the rivers. It was the first time for all of us to learn that Ghariyal is a fresh water reptile and is an endangered species due to industrial waste polluting their habitat.
The only issue was absence of functional toilets, management must take a note of it.

My kids were not ready to leave even after 1 hour and stayed till their closing time. Best part is that we enjoyed our dinner peacefully while the kids had a blast...!Written 7 February 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Geoff HSissinghurst, UK18,023 contributionsThe Machchhi Bhawan in Agra Fort is a fairly large two storey building surrounding a grass courtyard. Although the courtyard is just grass today, at one time it contained ponds and tanks full of highly coloured fish. These fish were purely for the Maharaja's entertainment and gave the area (fish square) its name. Of particular interest are the white lime designs on the upper floor.Written 1 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
