What travellers are saying
- Tropical_Dreamer69Phuket, Thailand10 contributionsOn entering the Art Gallery, the demonstration of grinding small and some minute pieces of semi-precious stones by hand is very interesting. This sets the tone for being shown the excellent array of beautifully crafted items for sale. The owner, Virender Sing, son Rahul and other staff are extremely welcoming and hospitable. They are also consummate salesmen, so I'd advise not entering with a limitless budget !
The variety of carved, inlaid marble items is huge and very impressive. I believe this is the only place producing these works of art. They also produce jewellery items with star rubies and star sapphires. Lovely place to visit (with caution!) if you're looking for very special gifts for friends, relatives or yourself.
I bought a few too many items, my favourites shown in the photo. They arrived in Thailand on time and expertly packed. NO Chance of any breakages. Interesting show, and it is sung in Hindi, but to keep up with the spoken bits it has headsets at each chair that have 20 languages, we had English language, and while the system works in terms of Listening to a translation the volume made it a bit hard to hear. If you’re not too worried about spending a couple of bucks on a night out, I’d recommend you do this so you can just tick it off as something done, interesting but it’s no Phantom of the Opera.Written 24 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Uksteve7 contributionsInteresting, but then became unsure how authentic and unique it all is based on the hard sell. Some very nice products but overpriced. However, on a short trip sometimes there’s no time to bargain shop and I like what I boughtWritten 7 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ijsbrand dFalls Church, VA10 contributionsTouseef International cannot be trusted. I bought a cabinet from him that he shipped to me but the item was damaged. Thousands of lame excuses later, I decided to drop the guy and have it repaired by someone that can be trusted. There are many vendors in Agra that sell high quality products for a more affordable price and with better services. Better stay away from this one.Written 29 May 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Rafael M3 contributionsAfter visiting Taj Mahal and other wonders in Agra our guide took us to Subhash emporium. We loved to see and understand marbel inlay technique by their artisans. They also showcase an incredible collection. Of course they are a business and will try to sell their products, but there is a variety of handicrafts, ranging prices from small souvenirs to authentic pieces of art.Written 23 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - dasnidhiNew Delhi, India20 contributionsThis is a beautiful place to visit and buy some souvenirs while traveling to Agra! They keep everything from gems , jewels, marble stuff , Zari works to music instruments!! I luv the life size statues kept outside the shops as my daughter found it very intriguing! U can see the craftsman working on Zari inside the shop . It is a lost art and shop is trying to restore and preserve this dying art! Bargain if u can 😬☺️👏🏻👌🏻Written 19 August 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Rajiv RKochi (Cochin), Kerala, India576 contributionsLike many others, we were also directed here by our cabbie. We went in with a pinch of salt, but ultimately it was good.
You are always free to choose whether you want to actually buy the stuff there or not. We took our time, and though the sellers insisted, we did not spend on anything we felt was not worth our time and money. We opted for a beautiful sculpted plate that depicts Agra's (and India's) star : the Taj Mahal.
The shoes that we purchased have also lived up to some hard conditions, and the sarees are also good. We would actually recommend this place.
PS : The shops inside are all air conditioned, and you can come out feeling fresh. Just be sure to buy at your own interest, and not at the whims of the sellers.Written 15 November 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The owner was well spoken and seemed genuine, he explained all the different varieties of cashmere wool scarfed for sale.
The one I liked was ‘four times woven baby wool’ at a cost of $180AUD. I contacted my local friend who told me that was a rediculous price, I should pay $70 at most and even that was expensive. The owner kept bringing his price lower when he knew I had a good source for pricing, and eventually we settled on $80. Still too expensive, but I had wasted so much time haggling for a scarfe I never intended to buy and was tired after a long day of touring. The owners brother gave me daggers.
These scarves can be bought in Shimla or neighbouring areas for cheaper.
