- Happiness445674725302 contributionsWe visited Agra Art Gallery as a capstone to our visit to the Taj Mahal. Our hosts at the gallery gave us a detailed demonstration of how the Taj's unique and spectacular inlaid marble decoration was created out of many types of semi-precious stone in carved marble, giving us the chance to look up close at the different stone types and observe the process of shaping the stones by hand to make exquisite designs. We then had the opportunity to peruse the shop, and with guidance from our hosts, understand how much effort went to each piece (all of which were gorgeous).
Given the uniqueness of this handcrafted art, I found the prices to be very reasonable and purchasing a table as a memory of this very special trip to the Taj was a very easy decision. Agra Art made it even easier by promising that my purchase (a beautiful inlaid marble table top) could be shipped to me in the US in just a few days.
My table arrived in New York a few days later, packed carefully and in perfect condition.

It makes you appreciate the Taj Mahal and all the effort that went into constructing this magnificent monument. Ramesh’s team take you through the whole process and explains everything so good. We stumbled upon the place by mistake and it was a great experience! We have been presented the history of the place and work. We had a tour of the workshop and we have seen the beautiful unique pieces of art, one of a kind. It was a great experience and the quality of the handcrafted art is extremely great!

They will also show you how they made them. They also sell saree. They keep everything from gems , jewels, marble stuff , Zari works to music instruments!! I luv the life size statues kept outside the shops as my daughter found it very intriguing! U can see the craftsman working on Zari inside the shop . It is a lost art and shop is trying to restore and preserve this dying art!
