- martina sOrsago, Italy4 contributionsMe and my friend had a really good experience with this tour and our guide: the driver came pick us up at the hotel on time, water was available and he was very welcoming and helpful when we asked questions about the city. Our tour guide was extremely prepared and gave us a lot of information both from the mythology and religion and from the historical and anthropological perspective which we really appreciated. He was also available to guide us to gift shopping when we asked.
The tour comprised two main temple sights in Madurai, the raja palace and Gandhi museum, but also few quick stops at the fruit and banana market and the terra cotta artigianal shops in the outskirts of the city.

We met our guide in Rameswaram. He took me to the temple area and the ghost city and the see. After that I had an excellent lunch (on my fees) in a small, local fish restaurant. His knowledge is wonderfully broad telling us about the maharajahs Palace and the temples to the onion and banana markets and fascinating facts about the city and history of religion. No phones in the temple so be prepared to leave them in a shop where tou will feel somewhat pressured to buy stuff afterwards. But nice guys and not too much of a hard sell. Halted on the Pamban bridge for a few minutes and reached Rameswaram. Had blessed darsan of Ramanathan Swamy four times in two days of our stay there. - SBCanberra, Australia5 contributionsWe combined an Off The Beaten Track tour with a tour of Sri Meenakshi Temple and we would highly recommend both — although, definitely choose OTBT if only doing one tour. It was very special being able to see less easily accessible parts of Madurai.
Our guide, Dhanabalan, was professional, accommodating and extremely knowledgeable. He was responsive to our interests in designing the itinerary and we were grateful to learn so much about Tamil history and culture.

The itinerary was thoughtfully crafted, showcasing Arupadaiveedu, Pancha Bootha Sthalam and few of Navagraha Temples. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, providing insights that enriched our understanding of each location.
