What travellers are saying
- geo3Calgary, Canada2,142 contributionsIf you like cable cars, this is worthwhile. The views at the top are very good, especially on the side facing Lake Pichola - but you can also see in all four directions, so you get a view over all of Udaipur.
Some people come up here to visit the temple at the top. By this point in my India trip, I had seen enough temples and didn't need to see another one, but the trip is worthwhile just for the view over the city.
I was fortunate in that there was only a short wait at the bottom. Apparently sometimes the wait at the bottom can be long.
It was a different story at the top when I wanted to go back down. Several reviews mention that you need to go to a separate counter to get your 'number in line' for going down, even if you already have a ticket, and that it's a good idea to get your 'number-in-line' as quickly as possible, maybe even as soon as you reach the top, as there will likely be a long wait at the top otherwise. Follow their advice. I was fortunate, being on my own, as the operators had me jump the line and squeezed me into a gondola car that had a family of five in it, to fill up the car. (The cars seat six). My waiting time at the top, because of this, was only about 15 minutes. Otherwise I would have been waiting at the top for over an hour.
An alternative would be to walk down, as the distance is only about 1 km, but there are a lot of steps if you choose to do this!Written 26 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We started with an early cycle out through the city at sunrise with a couple of stops to learn about the temples and the lakes we passed. We then slowly passed through the near by villages taking in all the stunning views and stopping occasionally to learn about each village. We then stopped for a very peaceful breakfast overlooking tiger lake which beautiful. We sat here and talked with Gaurav sipping on chai and hearing stories of local wildlife and the history of the lakes in Udaipur.
We couldn’t recommend this tour enough it was really fun and on good quality bikes with great company!Written 22 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - George CWhitby, UK6 contributionsWhat an amazing experience. With Dhananjay as my guide we cycled and two of Udaipur’s lakes and country roads with a stop for marsala chai. The scenery was excellent and despite India’s road reputation I felt safe with Dhanajay’s guidance. The hotel pick up was on time and there was a comprehensive pre ride briefing. I can strongly recommend going on a bicycle ride with them.Written 22 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - pabraham274Ascot, UK7 contributionsIt is just over a week since returning from our fantastic 10 day horse riding safari with Dinesh, Francine and their amazing team. This is our second trip with them having first ridden with them in 2018, then returned for a 10 day horse riding holiday in 2019 and planned to return in 2020 for the 380 km, 10 day ride to the Pushkar horse and camel fair before Covid intervened. This is a great holiday through villages and landscape in India you would otherwise not see. Camping overnight (there are options for hotels to break up the bucket showers) fantastic and varied vegetarian food (I am normally a meat eater!) cooked by the team, great chai over open fires in the evenings to talk through the days events and learn from Dinesh, and then there are the fabulous Marwari horses, tough, well looked after, responsive and if you want to - fast. If you love horse riding and adventure and can manage up to 40 Kms a day this is for you. Dinesh is a true gentleman and his team are lovely, cannot do enough for you, we knew he was well thought of in the horse world but it was not until we arrived in Pushkar did we realise we were with horse royalty - we are back in 2026, Udaipur to Jodhpur.Written 24 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
