The only thing which annoyed us was a high ticket prices. They are already so rich but still can't pass on some benefits to the general crown. The visitors here are average middle class Indians who will go to many such places in order to see the rich history of the country but they end being looted by all these places. Same thing goes with sajjangarh palace. First u buy ticket for the palace then buy ticket for taxi. When we reached there it was not even properly maintained. There are no artefacts or historical things there but only some photographs of wild life. I mean we spent around a thousand for a family of four but there was nothing

My passion for history brought me to this remarkable haveli, a place that has stood the test of time and is wonderfully preserved. From the intricate pillars to the beautifully adorned walls, every detail speaks of its rich heritage. The evening cultural events add a vibrant touch, bringing the history to life in a unique and captivating way. The museum, comprising a collection of exhibits, films and a light & sound show, depicts the valour of Maharana Pratap & stirs nationalist feelings in you.

Really enjoyed our visit. The tickets are a nice keepsake and we spent time looking at all the beautiful cars and learning about their origins. It was starting to go dark when we arrived so the friendly, helpful staff turned all the lights on for each vehicle so we could see properly. Enough cars to keep children engaged and a good variety. We had a couple of drinks at the Garden Hotel restaurant afterwards. We spent about 30mins looking at the cars, but can get around quicker if needed

this is quite interesting. The price may have felt like a bit much in comparison with the price of the whole palace tour. There were far fewer visitors here then at the palace, we pretty much had the place to ourselves. There were some interesting items to view.

This was without a doubt the loveliest experience we have had in all of Udaipur. I left the store with the biggest smile. We walked into the shop due to their fantastic display outside, they had exactly what we were looking for. The talent that Vimala and Shyam have is extraordinary. They are the most genuine and authentic creative couple. We loved having a chat with them and their energy was infectious. We will cherish our pieces and remember this lovely encounter. We wish them and their sons nothing but the best. An absolute recommendation to all!

No holiday to Udaipur would be complete for me without a trip to Shyam Jethi’s little shop to look for a painting to take home, I have taken quite a few this year.

Shyam’s forfathers used to entertain at the Mewar court, ask him to tell you about this and he is sure to offer you chai. If he has time he may even take you to the City Palace Museum and show you the wonderful collection of miniatures on display there, Shyam is also a very knowledgeable tour guide as I discovered on my trip in January.

Throughout Covid lockdowns, when there were no tourists visiting Udaipur, Shyam has done his best to support some of the artists whose work he collects and sells in his shop, so that they could continue to paint and feed their families.

Be sure to go upstairs to see some of the artists’ best work. Some of the miniatures here are very like those I have seen at London’s famous Victoria and Albert Museum. Over his lifetime Shyam has collected different styles of work and he sells within a wide price range. He has an artist’s eye for a good painting, and will happily share his knowledge with you and tell you about the history of each picture, the artist who painted it and it’s symbolism – if you show that you are interested.

Udaipur has several other shops within a few hundred meters selling miniatures. Some show you how the colours and gold are ground up and applied. There are artists’ cooperatives selling directly to the public. In other shops you can, at certain times of day, sit and watch artists painting with tiny squirrel-hair brushes and brushes made from camels’ eyelashes. Go see them all, and then return to Ganesham Art & Craft with a better appreciation of the exceptional talents on display.

    Directions:
Ganesham Art & Craft is near the Chandpole Bridge over lake Pichola.
Looking across from the Hide-In Udaipur hotel, you will see Shyam’s shop over the road to the right beneath Jethi Home stay. Search Jethi Home stay on Google Maps

Excellent service, beautiful art, fair prices! Wide range of products too. If you want to get souvenirs and arts, this is the best place we found in the whole region of Rajasthan and even compared to other regions

This is a Must-See in Udaipur. Even if you are not very interested in Art and painting - like me - you definitely will be after the visit. These guys are amazing artists and even more nice and gentle people. We will never forget them and stay in touch. Please take some time to visit them, their atelier and spend some nice hours there!

Visiting this handicraft showroom in Udaipur was an extraordinary experience. The sheer variety and quality of handicrafts showcased reflect a deep appreciation for artistry and tradition. The ambiance was inviting, and the attention to detail in the display of each item was commendable. It's evident that your showroom is a treasure trove for those seeking authentic and exquisite handicrafts. Keep up the excellent work!

Locky is really talented. I got miniature painting done on my nails and I couldn’t have been happier! I got this done for ₹350.

We also did a miniature painting workshop which was relaxing and fun. This costed me ₹800.

We had 2 great experiences here!
