- Dunni F1 contributionI had a great time at the Umaid Hertigate Art School. Vijay, the owner, (aka Mr Lentil man - know for being able to draw detailed art on a lentil) started the school to preserve the art techniques in the area. I had a fun experience trying my best to also create art using the same techniques and take home the finished piece (see in photo). Vijay, himself was very hospitable and made me feel very welcome and comfortable.
He also showed me some of the art his students had made, as well as many of his own. He is clearly very knowledgeable and passionate about preserving the art form. Will definitely be visiting again if I’m in the area!Written 17 February 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Paul hAdelaide, Australia793 contributionsWhat wealth is behind this sort of building, a night’s stay is probably equivalent to a decade of a poor person’s incomeWritten 4 February 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- AButler2015Granville, Ohio, United States14 contributionsWe were graciously greeted and welcomed into the beautiful compound where our friend’s parents were working on the loom, apparently they were giving their son and his wife a break. The 3x5 rugs you see on the loom take 2-3 weeks to make one with 2 people working. Folks work 12 hour shifts each day making looms and weaving. It’s hard to fathom the time it takes to make these gorgeous pieces. All of the fibers are 100% cotton or camel wool and naturally dyed with local plants. The colors were so rich and brilliant in the late day sun. The courtyard transformed with each new rug presentation. As we enjoyed the beautiful display of rugs we chatted, drank tea and got to hear a bit of the wonderful history behind these special rugs and the families that make them. I highly suggest a visit. I look forward to coming back next year.Written 4 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Amit SinghNew Delhi, India3 contributionsA fun educational experience. A must visit for all coin enthusiasts. - Saloni Bhojani1 contributionArna Jharna is a living museum where a person can interact and experience within the surroundings. The village-like structure of this desert museum with village objects is a perfect place to understand different communities and their activities. The rainy and winter seasons adds charm to the area, making it the perfect place in the year to visit. Apart from being a broom and musical instruments museum, Arna Jharna has some of the Rajasthani flora and fauna. During the events, the traditional dance and music communities are invited, thus making the place more lively and musical.
The people are also helpful and humble. One should visit the place once.Written 16 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - SavinaChennai (Madras), India1 contributionMr Razzak Ali demonstrated pottery to us beautifully and we were captivated by his skills with clay. He is one of the artisans keeping the Bishnoi culture alive. He is a true professional and has been doing this for 14 odd years. He has a vast collection of pottery artefacts such as animals, tea cups, flower vases etc. I am so glad I visited his place during my Jodhpur trip.Written 22 December 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

They are just extraordinary in their artwork. How they make dhury and weave various kind of products is a firsthand learning experience. I just loved the place. I have bought 3 beautiful things too. Prices are reasonable being these are handmade. Kuldeep Singh Ranwat was my safari guide.Written 16 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
