- Sharmila BapnaNew Delhi, India150 contributionsThe Double root bridge is Nature's Marvel and must go if your health allows. The trek to bridge is via 3500 stairs (mostly not assisted with railing) and two suspension bridges and same while coming back.
It was hot and humid day and we started around 10 AM finished by 3 PM. Both of us 44 years of age and city lifestyle had fairly no issues while reaching bridge. Take occasional breaks, keep yourself hydrated, munch if required and enjoy nature at its best.
There are shops on the way selling water/juice/maggie/chips etc so no need to carry too much along. Guide and sticks are available at the start, if required. We did not buy any. Do apply sunscreen and mosquito repellant cream. Wear comfortable shoes and light clothes.Written 22 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The bazaar is quite bustling. We did some souvenir shopping and binged on Momos, Chowmein and many more items during our visit here. This was our last day in Meghalaya.Written 24 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Voyage348278447072 contributionsShillong is the capital city of Meghalaya. Me and my wife went there last year. Very clean city. You will not get Ola/Uber in Shillong. Only way to travel is local cab service. They can charge you a lot. Best option is that to visit the Meghalaya tourism office and get a cab. Dont ask your hotel to arrange a cab.Written 29 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- DivyaGurugram (Gurgaon), India96 contributionsMawlynnong is a village in the East Khasi Hills district of the Meghalaya state in North East India.
It is notable for its cleanliness and also was chosen by Discover India magazine as Asia's cleanest village. Everyone in Mawlynnong is dedicated to maintaining the cleanliness of the village. We went there during the monsoon season and it was a pleasure to witness this place's scenic beauty. There is also a living root bridge near the village which can be witnessed as well.Written 22 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We did single deck, double deck and other living root bridges and this was the easiest trek, hardly 20 - 30 min. So best option to get a easy experience.

Read good reviews of Mr. Deepak Sarkar (9615765231, 9862330333) so contacted him to arrange a cab for 5 days. He was very helpful and genuine with his recommendations and stories about the place. He also suggested options for affordable accommodations with pictures unlike other agents who didn’t offer much choice and also found good vegetarian places for me. He made a custom tour for me as I wanted to see less touristy spots. I am glad I contacted him for exploring Meghalaya. He also arranges suitable trips for families and couples. You should also take suggestions from him before making hotel bookings because a lot of hotels are ridiculously expensive on the internet.Written 13 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There is stone sculpture just at the entrance which adds appeal to the place and an ideal place to click some pictures. Moreover some old houses stand strong even though they been partly blown off by strong wind currents, adds charm to the place. As we proceed inside there is a shelter which opens up to the vast views of the mountainous range.Written 4 June 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
