- Vaishali LimayePune, India149 contributionsIts a beautiful lake seen both from close and from the bridge on the way in & out of Shillong. We reached very early morning hence cud not take the boat ride. The lawns are good to stroll around. Do visit if you have timeWritten 2 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Satish PThane, India1,105 contributionsThe villagers have maintained the forest very well. The local guides provide you a wonderful tour of this forest, explaining the local rituals associated with it in greater details. YOu will get to experience some of the unique trees there and some will be as old as 500+ years. Quite calm and serene place, extremely well maintained. Cleanliness is a hallmark of every place in the state of Meghalaya.Written 16 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- Monil Nitin ParikhMumbai, India208 contributionsLovely place very scenic and pristine. Only 1 hour drive from Shillong do visit the Indian Grand Canyons.
Beautiful place.Written 7 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Anand SPudukuppam, India22 contributionsOne of its kind. No words to express the beauty of nature.
It is indeed an extreme trek, but you wouldn’t mind the effort when you reach there. A natural swimming pool and very clear water. You can spend 1-2 hours easily in the water.
Don’t make the mistake of just coming all the way to just see the bridge and take some photos. Prepare to get in and enjoy your life to the fullest. Bring in extra clothing to change. Rooms are available to do so.
We took 1.5 hrs onwards (single root and double root) and 2 hrs coming back. Refreshments available throughout the treat. Limited solid food options and none for vegetarians. But you get water and juices throughout.
Never miss thisWritten 30 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Satish PThane, India1,105 contributionsit was raining when we started from the hotel to visit this fall. fortunately it stopped raining when we reached there. we thus got falls full of water and clean whether for good photography.
the three step waterfall requires going down the steps. The effort however is worth it. It's very beautiful. Good spot for photography.
you can hire traditional dress and click your photographs. These are lovely memories to carry back and hence highly recommended.Written 2 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - TamsinGuwahati, India275 contributionsThis stunning Waterfall is set amidst a tropical jungle trail with gurgling streams and springs. About an hour and a half drive from Shillong, (google maps help) you cross beautiful hills & small villages through Pynursla. Byrdaw is set in the Lapalang area, The space has a large parking area but no signs leading you to the waterfall. We found our way to a smaller parking area for bikes and cars, closer to the trail point with the help of friendly locals. A ten minute walk to the falls they said, but plenty of steep stairs that you have to watch out for.
Advised to carry a backpack with water, snacks, a wind sheeter or umbrella & Ofcourse, wear walking shoes!
The view of the gushing waterfall is worth it.
There’s a tiny pathway that leads behind the water fall and another steep stairway down to the main pool where you can sit and relax.
Caution: I’d recommend you to watch out for broken glass if you take off your shoes near the stream water area. Relatively clean, there were still traces of broken beer bottles, plastic cups and plates left post-picnics.
It would be great if dustbins could be put in and around the picnic spots.
P.S: Visitors to please carry your empty snack packets & drink cans or bottles back with you. Nature is beautiful when left as it is.Written 13 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Satish PThane, India1,105 contributionsThe river is extremely scenic. Very clean water and it flows thru lush green mountains.
Boating in the river is an excellent experience. Quite a romantic one too. One has to go down the stairs to the boats and then have about an hour of boating experience. One gets to halt in between at a beautiful spot where you wait and let the experience sink in your brains.
Clean water by your sides and mountains full of lush green trees. It's a kind of heavenly experience.
Highly recommended.Written 16 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - guruprasadhnBengaluru, India85 contributionsKrang Shuri is fast becoming a favourite hot-spot owing to its elegant fall topped with turquoise green waters lagoon below. A swimmers paradise as the fall is not violent and the lagoon is not too deep. The water too is not very cold either.
Wearing a life jacket is mandatory while entering the lagoon for swimming. The walk down to the falls is also light and easy. It took us 15 minutes downstairs and 20 minutes upstairs. You do get to see the falls from far off distance within the first 4 minutes of walk. In case of any elders who cannot walk down completely, they can have a clear cut glimpse of the falls with the 1st 300 meters of the walk downstairs.
There is a boat as well but only one I believe and the wait time was more. Dud not opt for it. Life jacket is mandatory for the boat as well.
Zip lining option is also there for 300/-. I did not see anyone opting it though. Entry ticket to the falls is 30 and car parking charge is 50.
There are few small eateries near the parking where you get Maggi , snacks and thali as well (predominantly non veg)
Our driver was quite fast and safe and he took us from Shillong (Mawblei/Laitmor) in just 2 hours each way. The roads are good and not having ghats.
You will get to see many trucks as you approach Jowai.
Tip: I recommend not to take the 1st entrance (from main road) to the falls as it is a long walk from there. Ask your driver to take you to the 2nd entrance/car parking.Written 5 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Anil Kumar RamdasKannur, India804 contributionsNohwet Living Root Bridge, Nohwet
We visited the Nohwet Living Root bridge, a 30 meter, 200 years old bridge built with living roots of Indian rubber trees planted in 1840. It is built by Khasi tribal people across a small river by name Thyllong River. Nohwet Village is one of the cleanest villages in Megalaya situated in the East Khasi District of Mehgalaya. The descent to the Living Root Bridge is a little rocky but the sight of the bridge is worth every step we descented.
The local Khasi people maintain this living root bridge, the last major maintenance work done in June 2019. A must visit place while touring Meghalaya.Written 15 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - PushkarShillong, India1 contributionShillong is a worth place to visit if you are coming to north east. Try to cover the trip in monsoon months July and Aug. Second option is winter. Shillong local trip will take 1 to 2 days includes various beautiful parks, churches and museums, cherrapunji will take 1 full day and includes various beautiful peak points, Dwaki area will take 1 full day , attraction here includes , Dwaki river, Bangladesh border, clean village. Try to get stationed in Shillong and visit these places. For cabs and guide you can reach out to drivers in police bazar. I have a contact for a good driver and guide who is economical and very honest. I am sharing his number with his permission.

- Ananth15 contributionsThe view is from afar. The falls are excellent, the mountain drops are worth photographing, but we had gone in summer, so the the volume was less. But worth a visit.Written 29 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
