- NB N10 contributionsRecently we went to Dapoli via Tamhini ghat. It was a mesmerizing experience. After the July rains, there was lush greenery overall with small waterfalls in between. There was fog near the top of mountain and the air was very fresh. The roads are also well maintained but need to drive drive carefully as there are frequent hair-pin turns.
Overall a beautiful experience.Written 25 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Maharashtra state is famous for Ashtavinayaka temples that are special and sacred. These eight temples are located in different places of Maharashtra and all of them are considered Swayambhu which means self originated. Typically people follow this Ashtavinayaka Yatra in sequence in which Ranjangaon Vinayak is eighth one.
Legend has it that once Lord Shiva had to bottle a powerful demon Tripurasura whom he could not vanquish easily, so Lord Shiva took help of Ganesha to defeat Tripurasura. It is believed that this temple was built as the spot where Lord Shiva defeated Tripurasura. Due to the same this Ganesh is also called as Tripurarivade Mahaganapathi.
Interesting facts about Ranjangaon Mahaganapathi:
1. This temple was built by Sardar Kibe during 9 -10th Century. Same is renovated by Madhavrao I during 18th Century. He constructed a beautiful entrance gate with Jay and Vijay flanking the sides.
2. This temple construction is so unique that the Sun rays fall directly on Lord Ganesha Idol during Dakshinayan.
3. Ranjangaon Ganapati idol was gifted by Kollam family and is east facing, his trunk is turned leftwards and depicted as seated on a lotus, surrounded by his wives Siddhi and Riddhi.
4. The Villagers of Ranjangaon do not bring the Ganesha idols into their homes during Ganesh Chaturthi instead, they visit the temple and offer their prayers.
5. Devotees believe that there is another idol below the present idol in underground chamber. The idol is called as Mahotkat, which has 10 trunks and 20 arms. But authentication for the same is not available.

The chaupati outside the Sarasbaugh provides you street food. The garden remains close from 12 noon to 4 pm so avoid going during this period though the temple remains open.Written 15 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. You can cross the Pune Mumbai Highway, go past the MCA Stadium, see a few nice bungalows and then start the trek up.
There is small stretch of land which has good tree cover. It would make the trek in summer more bearable. For us the weather was excellent. We did not feel hot. There was cool Breeze which made the hike thoroughly enjoyable.
We then passed a small temple with its entrance facing the hill wall. It takes 20 minutes to half an hour from the temple to reach the TOP. There are a few stretches of slippery rubble terrain. Once you reach the TOP there is a small plateau on the summit. It was great fun to spend a few minutes in the Breeze.
For willing hikers it’s a beautiful trek to the TOP. Next time I would climb from the other slope to see the Ghoradeshwar temple and the caves..Written 11 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The best season is monsoon but avoid live rain as there are chances of slippage. It requires a ticket of INR 40 for a 4 wheeler. For trekking, it takes about 20-30 min time only. The first half is of rocks, stones but easily covered by children also. The second half is steps made of sand, very slippery. Elders should avoid the first half and can go till steps by car. No proper parking arrangements. No toilet or washrooms nearby.
Location: After crossing Dive ghat from Pune, it's only about 15/20 min drive. Google's location is accurate.
Food: there is only a small fruit vendor near car parking and tea and vada pav stall at the top.
Things to see: 2 temples, 3 wells (one is stepwell), ruins are picturesque. 2 hours are.more than sufficient to walk the entire fort.Written 27 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - ronit gaikwadMumbai, India3,563 contributionsWe were looking to complete a tour of tourist spots around Lonavala and came upon this when searching for all the tourist spots on the internet.
Since we visited this during the monsoon, the best part to see is all the streams and the waterfall flowing right beside the staircase. In fact, at the higher levels, the water flows right through the staircase itself. The scene up is visually stunning though one also needs to be careful as the stairs become pretty slippery during rain, and thus, it is best to wear shoes having a good grip.
The views themselves from the top of the staircase are stunning, though. You can see the entire expanse of land covered in green with small and big streams of water, eventually turning into a waterfall and flowing down the hills. While climbing up the staircase, you will find colorful flora, including some beautiful wildflowers growing beside the staircase and tiny tadpoles and colorful frogs along the path.
Higher up, the rains did seem to increase, but the cool wind and the surrounding area are soothing to the mind. The place is serene and one of the best to visit to see nature at its best and find tranquility and peace.Written 15 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
