- VIPIN_GOEL_TP_ImpexNew Delhi, India8,427 contributionsKeep your entrance tickets with Bar Code ready in your mobile. Buy your ticket online from Archaeological Survey of India website (Government of India official websie) “asidotpayumoneydotcom or asidotpaygovdotorgdotin” by selecting Aurangabad City, then Ellora Caves. Fill other details. Per person ticket is Rs.35/- only for Indian, SAARC & BIMSTEC. Other foreigners will be charged 550/-.
Nestled amidst the Deccan Plateau, the Ellora Caves are carved into a 2-kilometer-long basalt cliff face, these 34 rock-cut caves, dating back to the 6th to 10th centuries CE, represent a harmonious convergence of three major religions: Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism.
One can pay and use the battery car starting near to the toilets on the left side after entering the complex. Keep drinking water and wear comfortable cloths as lot of walking to be done inside. Plan before, how much time you have to spend there, accordingly visit the caves by selecting them with their numbers. We have chosen the cave no. 16 called The Kailasa Temple, a massive monolithic structure carved out of a single rock of volcanic basaltic formation. It is the largest of caves and took more than 1 hour to explore it. Ample car parking is available outside the complex. We have not hired a tour guide, so we just saw the sculptures and idols, not knowing the details about them.Written 9 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is some 27km from Railway station and you can book a taxi from there that will charge around Rs 1000/- and drop you. You can also take a city bus from station that should charge very less but will take around 90minites to the destination.
Stay: Hundreds of options available around temple to cater to all kind of requirements. We stayed at a resort close to temple but the village is full of home stays and smaller rooms for pilgrims, may cost you from 500-5000/- depending upon your choice.
Visit : Try to be the early bird, wake up as soon as possible and reach the temple by 5-530am. You can take flowers from outside as they will allow to offer it yourself and hence you should buy if you want. Males are strictly asked to remove shirts/kurtas so be ready for it. You can carry your phone or purse but no photos allowed. If you are lucky depending upon crowd, you can enter the Garbha Griha and offer your devotion to Shivlingas directly and can also touch it for blessings. Temple staff is generally good in the early morning hours with less crowd around.
Ignore the mismanagement for the time being (around temple) and live the experience, it's worthwhile!Written 9 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Bandya Mama53 contributionsAmple paid parking is available at 4 locations which are close to the temple. Pleasant atmosphere with vibe. There is prasad also. The first time i saw Lord Hanuman was in a sleeping position. I heard in india there are only 3 temples where Lord Hanuman is in a sleeping position and this location is one of them. The temple is believed to have been built around the 16th century, during the reign of Sultan Ahmad Shah, the founder of Ahmedabad. The idol of Lord Hanuman in the temple is unique in its posture. Unlike most other depictions of Hanuman, where he is shown in an active or aggressive stance, the idol at Bhadra Maruti portrays Hanuman in a seated posture, which symbolizes peace and tranquility. This idol is considered very powerful and auspicious by devotees.Written 9 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. After entering for ellora caves, first you encounter cave No.16 which is in middle of 34 caves. On the left side of this cave are Jainism caves. But these caves are at long distance. So take an E-Rickshaw to visit the jain temples at ellora. The e-rickshaw stand is just near the entry gate. The rickshaw will drop you at 1 cave and left with other tourists. You take your own time visiting and came back with another e rickshaw. The same thing happen in all these caves. So keep your e-rickshaw ticket with you every time. Don’t dare to go these caves by walk.

Ellora Caves are just 5km from here. The surroundings and approach road to the tomb is not maintained and is in bad condition filled with rubbish and sewage. We crossed the Nagarkhana Gate to reach the tomb. Although the inside of the tomb is well maintained. Anybody loves/interested in Tombs and Aurangzeb history should visit the place. Aurangzeb died in Ahmednagar on 23rd March, 1707 after ruling for 50 years, longest by a Mughal Emperor. According to his last wish, he was buried near the Roza of his Guru Sayyad Zainoddin Shiraizi (Rahe). His grave had to be simple as per his wish, but Lord Curzon ordered it to be decorate with marble. We have seen the graves of his Guru and his sons in the premises. Some scared item is placed safely there after travelling several other holy places as per information written on the steel plate there. One can buy Rose and other flowers to offer on graves and can lit incense sticks on the graves.Written 8 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
