Omkareshwar is located @ 70 km away from Indore. This is the Island in between Narmada River and River flows surround the temple. the temple bird view is like a Hindu Spiritual Devanagari "OM" (ॐ ) symbol, hence this Jyotirlinga is called as Omkareshwar. As this temple is on Island we have to go to the temple by Boat or by Pathway Bridge only,

There is a Bridge which was constructed in 1979 for pilgrims who want to visit the temple by walk. One more Hanging Bridge is constructed recently in 2004, which is 4 meters wide and 235 meters long. This Swing bridge will take us directly to Main entrance of the temple.

We hires individual boat to visit temple and as a package he has taken us to Narmada and Kuveri river Sangam, Dam and then after darshan he dropped us at south bank of the Narmada river from where we started. This was most exited movement to us.

    Architecture of the temple:
The Omkareshwar temple is built in the North Indian style of architecture, with high spires in Nagar Style. This temple has a grand Sabha mandap standing on about 60 stone pillars having 14 feet high. There is no evidence who has constructed this temple, the earliest evidence states that in 1063, King Udayaditya installed four stones each with Sanskrit Stotra's. In 1195, Raja Bharat Singh Chauhan Renovated this temple.

    History of the temple:
Along with Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga, there is also Mamleshwar Jyotirlinga on the other bank of Narmada River. Both these Shivalinga's are considered to be the same Jyotirlinga.

Inside the Garbhagriha on one side, Omkar Shivalinga and another side Goddess Parvati and Lord Ganesh idols are established. Always water is filled naturally around the Jyotirlinga. There are temples of Govindeshwar, Maa Annapurna and Panchamukha Ganesha.

The Island where this temple is situated is called as Mandhata Parvat or Shivpuri. There is Parikrama Path on this island which is about 7-8 km long and the way is completely full of temples. This full parikrama needs to be complete by foot only and which will take @ 3-4 hours easily.

As per the Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva comes to Omkareshwar Mamleshwar temple daily after traveling on the Earth for the rest of the night. Temple priest does Syan Aarti of Lord Shiva here based in the mythological belief. Omkareshwar is the only temple where Lord Shiva's Shayan Aarti is done by the priests of the temple. Shayan Aarti happened in a very secret way here daily at 08:30 pm

An unexpected diamond! A museum that deserves to win prices. Well maintained and beautiful display of homes of different tribes in the State, artifacts, stories told in creative ways. They have used the available space (very high ceilings) very well. I could have walked around, entering houses, climbing the different structures, for hours. Very nice display of traditional children games.

I visited here again after 2 years. The charm and food delicacy is same. There are few newly added food joints as well like starters, Veg Chaaps, Coconut crushs etc.

There is still lot of crowd at famous Joshi Dahi Bada, Vijay chat and Samosa wale at corner. These are highlights of Sarafa where every person goes.

I tried Jaleba and Rabdi which i could not taste it last time as stomach got full. I simply loved the taste of it.

People visiting Indore should try this once in lifetime. I like this place, food varieties, people and their humbleness.

Bhimbetka ( Bhim+ Baithak... Literal translation - Bhima's Seat ). Bhima was one of the Pandava brothers from Mahabharat.

Bhimbetka Rock Shelters is a UNESCO World Heritage Archeological site located at Raisen district near Bhopal. These rock shelters and caves are supposedly more than 100,000 years old!

The angles at which some of these massive rocks are resting is incredible.
This site contains the world's oldest stone walls and floors with carvings / paintings.
The entire area is neatly demarcated into Rock Shelters. Each Shelter has a brief description of what can be expected . However it was difficult to spot the paintings etc at many places as they have faded .
Nonetheless , a hidden Gem... definitely Recommended!

The place has a lot of steps ... senior citizens and toddlers may have issue walking up and down. During monsoons it may be slippery too. Food and water etc are not available in the premises .
We went recently , there were many people roaming about without masks .
Security should ensure people should follow the pandemic protocol like masks and social distancing which was missing .

The Marble Rocks are less than an hours' drive from Jabalpur City and definitely worth a visit. It is a wonderful natural site on the Narmada and is best accessed by boat. There is an elevator to take you from the from the road to the boating area and back. Marble rocks of different hues are visible. Excellent place for photography

Somebody who comes from a dry area of Rajasthan, seeing a lake is as it is a pleasant sight. What added to its beauty was the vast expanse and cleanliness I found here, the ducks flocked together in shores and the colorful boats floating slowly.

The monument is an excellent representation of the indian rich heritage and civilisation. Built almost 2300 years ago, it shows the viewer the cultural and economic supremacy India enjoyed. The stupa is an amazing piece of architectural heritage, with vast circular gallery and pieces of fine quality sculptures.
It is recommended that you take a guide to walk you through the work and narrate the history behind the monument.

Great Place for Divinity and a must visit when in Indore. Cleanliness is top notch and ample space for visitors with small temples within the courtyard of other deities.

Getting a public transport (auto) can be tricky if you do not have a vehicle.

Viewed from the VIP road the lake looks almost like an ocean, it is difficult to see the other end. With a cool breeze blowing across it, one is refreshed in a matter of minutes.

I visited this city for a couple of days after Agra and Delhi. If you like history, then this is a great city to visit for it's historical connection to Rajputs, Delhi Sultanates and Mughals. My itinerary included the tombs of Tansen and Muhammad Ghaus, the Ghaus and Gwalior Fort. The latter includes Gujari Mahal, the Jain monuments of Gopachal Parvat and the Sas Bahu Temples.

The city is definitely worth a least one day, but two would be good too.

A nice peaceful lakeside Animal park. It is a great place to visit if you are visiting Bhopal. Good place for kids as they get to see wild animals. It is not like a zoo but there are larger places and natural surroundings for Tigers, Bear, Crocodile etc. Best time to visit is near Sunset as you get a beautiful view of the Upper lake.
