What travellers are saying
- BootfromEngland13 contributionsI'm a musician from England, and am aware now of how mathematical Western music is, mainly because of it's birth in the Rennaissance. This museum enlightened me to music from South India in particular. I learned a lot. The displays were informative visually & aurally. The genres were wide. There was something of interest for everyone of whatever age or background. Most enjoyable, thank you.Written 17 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- PuneTravelbudPune835 contributionsGovernment museum is have some nice collection of ancient artifacts, idols, weapons etc. Red color building itself is very beautiful. I liked antique curved stairs to reach first floor. Just besides art gallery is available. Ground floor is having paintings by Mr. Venkatappa. First floor is having space for exhibition and could enjoy paintings there too. What I liked here was some open space available to sit and create paintings on your own seeing landscape, nature and museum building.Written 19 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. You can even touch a sample. There are pther body organs, fetus (my favourite!) and skeleton too. To the extent this can be interesting it is really well displayed.

Lot of greenery and the sounds of birds chirping specially during dusk and dawn is very soothing. There is also an old train engine which is reminiscence of the past. Lot of pathways to walk and just soak in the nature right in the middle of city and traffic.Written 2 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Culture643444175781 contributionOne of the most creative spaces. Catch some art, some fantastic architecture from a lot of scrap/junk, and eat some delicious food! Events and workshops are all exciting and fun, and you get to meet like-minded folk that are interested in sustainability!Written 31 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Vidya B1 contributionThe one of a kind museum set up for the first time with a lot of study and historical background of currency in India. Its a museum of knowledge for young and old. To relive history through a visit was an awesome experience. The collector has put in a lot of effort in studying and then displaying. Anything out of passion needs a lot of study and discipline and this is what this museum shows. Yes there is further scope for modern era which we are living in presently. Minute details are also displayed as it is important for the present generation to know how a currency bundle is given, a rim is given, how coins come in bags etc. Really a must visit for all schools, colleges young and old. Best wishes in all their endeavor. Also remember to buy a book for your library so any time you may study further. Best wishes as a numismatist and collector. Great Job.Written 9 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Priya rBengaluru, India82 contributionsWould definitely recommend this place for travelers on the Mysore-Bangalore highway. While the Kamat Lokaruchi next door is a must visit to satiate your taste buds, do spare a couple of hours in this unique museum cum educational park. The efforts of late Mr.Nage Gowda is really praise worthy to have collected and displayed the folk art and culture of various tribes that live in Karnataka. The park is well maintained with lot of shady trees. Lot of space for kids to run about. They even have live performances that are a treat to watch. For all this, the entry fee is only Rs.10.Written 14 December 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- cpjqmBengaluru, India115 contributionsTucked away in the heart of Bengaluru, within sight and on all important routes criss crossing the city, is a museum depicting the growth and centenary landmark of the State Bank of Mysore, established by HH Krishna Raja Wodeyar and Sir M.Visveswaraya on 02-10-1913. Opened on 02-10-2016, this museum is only opened on request and subject to the rush at the counters on that day. However the exhibits are truly revealing in birth and growth of this bank. There are photographs of Sir M.V. that I had not seen elsewhere. There are some beautiful carvings in stone, metal and wood as well as paintings of the patrons done in the initial years. There are endless quantities of trophies won by the staff and teams of SBM over the years. There is also a coin museum with good representation of Indian coins with more coverage on the Mysore region. The museum is well lit and the attendant comes along the tour with you. This place is under surveillance. The doors at the entrance arch are themselves a work of art. This was very much a pleasant journey into the past.Written 23 December 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
