Must got o bow to the great sage Shankaracharya.
Plus the beautiful views of the Srinagar city, Jhelum and Dal lake. It makes you realise the potential of the place if there would be a peaceful and liberal society

A very beautiful garden . We three couples flew from Amritsar to Srinagar on 27/3/24 just to visit the Tulip garden, after consulting my hosts in Srinagar because this year because of the unpredictable winters ,the opening of the garden got delayed by almost 10 days. There was a very heavy rush in the garden. The entry fees is 74 Rs per person, but we had got VIP Passes.
Spent a couple of hours there.
Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip garden, previously Model Floriculture Center, is a Tulip garden in Srinagar. It is the largest tulip garden in Asia spread over an area of about 30 ha (74 acres). It is situated at the base of the Zabarwan range, built on a sloping ground in a terraced fashion consisting of seven terraces with an overview of the Dal Lake. The garden was opened in 2007 with the aim to boost floriculture and tourism in the Kashmir Valley. It was formerly known as Siraj Bagh.About 1.7 million tulip bulbs, all in multiple colours, were brought from  tulip gardens of Amsterdam.Besides tulips, there are 46 varieties of flowers, including hyacinths, daffodils, ranunculus, and pansies which were also brought from Holland.
The tulip garden is home to around 73 varieties of tulips.
    Completely mesmerized. Clicked many photos

Even though this Lake is an offshoot of the Dal Lake, the association ends there. Nigeen Lake is clean, peaceful & quiet. Lounging in the shikara and watching lotus flowers and birds float by, you will wish you didn’t have to leave this.

We went to Kashmir in group of 4, all ladies. We booked 6 days trip with Mr Shakil (+91 96227 09560), the best tour guide I’ve ever came across.

    Our itinerary as follow,
Day 1 - walk around Srinagar, visits botanical gardens
Day 2 - Gulmarg by cable car
Day 3 - Pahalgam (pony riding)
Day 4 - Sonamarg (sightseeing + zip line)
Day 5 - Sonamarg (zero point + pony riding)
Day 6 - Back to Srinagar (shop for souvenirs).

Mr Shakil arranged all the activities and transportation (including cable car and pony) for us. He made sure we were comfortable throughout the journey and also made sure we paid the correct price for everything (a lot of people offering ridiculous price for their services and goods).

He is very knowledgeable and funny. He shared a lot of stories with us and we never get bored in the car ride. Most importantly, we felt safe with him as our guide.

Highly recommend Mr Shakil for Kashmir tour. For those who do not have so many days to spend here, I would suggest to drop Gulmarg, but Sonamarg is place must visit. The view is amazing!

Housing Kashmir’s Heritage tree, a 300 year old Chinar. The garden is well worth your evening time. With a variety of flowers (dominated by roses in all shades) - this place is an excellent spot to just relax among nature. While it does get crowded in the evening there are plenty of spots to sit and enjoy under the trees.

Please note : No shades are there, and it would get very sunny during day time.

After houseboats and the mountains, it is the moghul gardens for which Kashmir is most famous. But sadly except Shalimar Baag and Noishant Garden, you can skip other gardens. These two gardens are largest and may take a half day for properly explore. Lovely chinar trees increases the beauty of these gardens, add to the view of Dal Lake which are lacking at other gardens.

Revered by Kashmiri Pandits, this is a Shakthi Perth temple. Can be visited on the journey from Sonmarg. Serene atmosphere. Need a government photo id to enter the premises. Closes by 4 pm.

Must visit place. Pony ride deep into forest hills nearly 6 hours with family reaching a huge lake. Ride into wilderness is memorable. No comission to cabs hence not popular/ promoted but must bargain rate. Gentle ride unlike Gulmarg, Sonamarg.

The views, Autumn colours on Chinar trees were beautiful, the garden itself is a treat but being under renovation there was a lot building material which scattered around which took away from the experience somewhat
