- Amelie9626Cape Town, South Africa1,522 contributionsEntrance closes at 4:30. Clean and well maintained. Welcomes people from all faiths. We went at 3:30pm and it was not at all crowded. Very serene and relaxing. No entry fee and no fees for keeping shoes. They are allowing mobiles now so we can take lovely photos. Steps up are clean and broad and not very steep. Only the last 12-15 steps which are the original stone steps are steep but we saw many old people who could manage it. Highly recommended for a view of both the Dal Lake side and the Jhelum side of Srinagar.Written 19 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SunshineDubai, United Arab Emirates279 contributionsDal lake is huge with natural beauty but very dirty and polluted. It is worth going for a Shikara ride only from ghat nos.14 to 17 to enjoy the nature’s beauty around 4 to 5pm (depending on season and length of the days) to enjoy the gorgeous sunset views . Some agents are charging a lot of money . Book through hotel or directly with Shikara owners. It should be Rs.1,000 to 1,200/-
Rupees for one hour’s ride.
Kashmiries should take pride in their province, keep it much, much, much cleaner and preserve it’s natural scenic beauty. Dal lake which is biggest attraction of Kashmir is dying from pollution. They should do massive campaigns for clean ups and preservation of it’s natural scenic beauty which is alluring and bountiful.but sadly neglected.Written 11 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Each step was a spring festival. Til wherever you could see, it was just flowers & some trees. Daffodils, Tulips, Whispering willows, and many more. Just amazing !!!Written 5 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Arnab Kumar NathAhmedabad, India13 contributionsWe enjoyed visiting the place along with Ashiq bhai. Ashiq bhai is honest and humble. He explained every minute things during our Sonmarg trip. While most of the brokers in the taxi stand try to exploit tourists by charging havoc money ( apprx 6000-8000/- angainst givt rate of Rs 4000/-), Ashiq bhai took only Rs 3000/-. If somebody is planning to Sonmarg, Ashiq bhai and his brother Shakil bhai can definitely be of trustworthy partners in your tour. We have enjoyed scenic beauty, fresh snow the journey as well.Written 12 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Amelie9626Cape Town, South Africa1,522 contributionsWonderful though crowded. Lots of locals and tourists both. It was a lovely evening spent in October and we got lucky enough to chat with the gardeners about upcoming suitable plants for the winter season. Highly recommended. Our driver was rushing us so we got less than an hour here, but you could easily relax here and spend a couple of hours contemplating the giant flowers. Clean toilets inside and also a limited cafe where you can get food and tea. The Nishat Shopping Centre right opposite has great food and shopping options.Written 20 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SanpandeyNoida, India3 contributionsDoodhpathri is an amazingly beautiful place. It is miles of verdant meadows and the Shaliganga river on one side flanked by mountains. The Rocky river turns the flowing water white white as milk, hence the name. It is a place to walk and wander and absorb the splendour of nature. But of course, it is full of ponies and ATVs. If you choose one of these, then they take you on a fixed path down to the river. There are also cabs that take you to the river and back. It is a good option is walking is not for you. But if you are luckily enough to be there when the crowds are away, then just wander in the meadow s and by the river, drink in the beauty and marvel at the wonder that is our earth.Written 20 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - VansidChennai (Madras), India284 contributionsA temple that is central to the beliefs of Kashmiri Pandits, has seen some bad days in the recent past due to terrorism, but coming back to its past glory as peace returns.
It is well maintained, no worries about having to deal with touts etc.
And less talked about is the really tasty Kashmiri veg thali that you get at various stalls in the temple premises (rajma, yellow paneer, nadru Yakhani, khatte baingan, dum aloo, looch)Written 1 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. After houseboats and the mountains, it is the moghul gardens for which Kashmir is most famous. But sadly except Shalimar Baag and Noishant Garden, you can skip other gardens. These two gardens are largest and may take a half day for properly explore. Lovely chinar trees increases the beauty of these gardens, add to the view of Dal Lake which are lacking at other gardens.Written 28 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Ride into wilderness is memorable. No comission to cabs hence not popular/ promoted but must bargain rate. Gentle ride unlike Gulmarg, Sonamarg.Written 15 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
