- swoodrufMuskegon, MI1,734 contributionsIt looked like a long way up on a boiling hot day, but we did it! It actually isn't as hard as it looks. Our travel guide took it quite slow and stopped frequently to let us catch our breath and learn some of the history of the castle. It actually isn't a castle; it was built to be a defensive fort. Since it is right on the northern coast of Colombia facing the Caribbean Sea, the city was often attacked by pirates and enemies. The fort itself is well preserved; there were workers working on repairs the day we were there. From the top, you can see for miles. You can get a beautiful view of the city as well. I felt accomplished after making it to the top where we had a lovely breeze! The history of Cartagena is fascinating.Written 8 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- craig1086Atlanta, GA1,993 contributionsSomething you definitely won't miss while walking through the Plaza de Santo Domingo. It's a nice sculpture, showing the proud curves & voluptuousness of the Colombian woman. Legend is that if you rub it, you'll have good luck. The irony is that it front faces right in front of a church. Worth a visit. You'll see the line waiting for pics.Written 1 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- newidadNew York City, NY113 contributionsThis was our favorite square in Cartagena, especially in the evenings. Calm, beautiful, with people selling their wares and restaurants/ice cream places on one side.

- Hope OBognor Regis, UK29 contributionsBeautiful and free art gallery, with a great collection. The member of staff working there when I visited, Maria-Claudia, was very knowledgeable about the collection in the gallery and the artists featured. She was also incredibly helpful with helping me find prints and art work from the gallery shop. Really recommend a visit!Written 30 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- eak49Sunnyvale, CA258 contributionsWorldwide acclaimed cocktail bar in the heart of Cartagena nightlife. 3.5 stars
Highlight:
- Rooftop: loved the vibe and the music and the tiny lights. My pic of the neon cursive sign above the bar "Cartagena my love" is one of my faves
- Even though we were told it was full, after standing at the bar for a bit, a waitress found us an open table
- Drinks: very unique combos you haven't seen other places
Midlight:
- Menus: different on each floor with a theme which is a fun idea, but also means you can only try certain ones depending on where you're seated. We loved the rooftop so would've liked to try more drinks there. Drink I had was just ok and curious about others.
Lowlights:
- Reservations: the website and on the door say no reservations. Yet when we came they said there were no tables because they all had reservations and at the bar reservation signs were by the seat. Was very confused by this.
Crowded: we went early as know it gets crazy later with huge lines at the door.
Was happy to go but would've liked to try drinks from other floors and know how to procure seating.Written 8 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
