The timing was perfect- there was plenty of time for questions and also to eat the amazing food! After a morning tour of the fascinating and maze like Bazurto market with the daughter, we were escorted to the family home and the class. The mother, Maria, was lovely and entertaining during our visit, dancing and singing around the kitchen. Recipes were easy to follow and clearly explained, and the final result was delicious. We were two couples and were thus able to try two different mains: a stuffed fish with vegetables and a beef stew with onions and peppers. Sides were coconut rice (made from real coconut) and a poached plantain in fruit syrup. We couldn't wait to get home and make them for our friends. The space is bright, open, and airy. The class was well organized. Romario and his team were friendly and welcoming. - JP V1 contributionThe Cartagena cooking school has been the highlight of our trip to Cartagena so far! The place is amazing, with the breeze flowing through the building as we cooked a delightful four-course meal. We learned to make two types of arepas, patacones (tostones), cassava puree, plantain leaf-wrapped grouper, and a delicious lulo ice cream with sweet plantains. The instructors were incredible, ensuring everyone in the class felt included and engaged. It was a fantastic experience, and we even made some new friends along the way. The instructors were friendly and knowledgeable, and, most importantly, the food was delicious and simple to make. I will dream of the fish that we cooked that day.

And I ended up discovering two rums that I really liked. Our guide Alejandra was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. She made the experience a 10/10. - Richard F4 contributionsThis experience was everything I could have hoped for. Our guides for this journey were Luz and Dylan, who were warm and genuinely excited to share with us their deep knowledge and passion of the Colombia and the Caribbean Cartagena region.
We tried five different rums, and one "aguardiente" which has the same base ingredients but is a very different spin on the spirit. These were paired with five devine food dishes, and some chocolates at the end. Not only were they able to talk to us about the distinct differences in each rum, wether the region of production, aging practices, or fun details about the distiller, but they related each rum with each food pairing exceptionally from a gastronomic standpoint. Enhancing key flavor notes of each rum and dish at the same time.
My wife has a couple significant food allergies, which the team were more than happy to accommodate to ensure her health.
