- mickydPrinceGeorgeprince george18 contributionsWe ( six of us, two were could speak Chinese ( very helpful) The hotel was fine, the hot springs were very soothing and tranquil. We stayed one night and ate at a local resturant just down the street from the hotel. It was cheaper and we sampled their local fruit wines ( fine) Food was picked out fresh from cages on the street ! The morning we left we took a walk/hike up into the mountain (cross a small wooden bridge right outside the hotel) met some locals and bought rocks/jade from them. No way would i try driving those roads, We were lucky to have two of our group who are expirenced with the area.Written 24 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jürg-Andreas Z99 contributionsEnjoyed very much sitting in the 40° warm water while heavy rain was falling. Marvelous to see the steam vanishing in the trees.Written 20 December 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BeautifulGuangxiChina673 contributionsGood quality of hotsprings, fresh air, quiet environment, perfect supporting facilities. That’s my impression of Jiuquwan hotspring. It is a recommended place for decompression and relaxation, especially when you feel tired and exhausted. I loved the unique atmosphere of traditional Zhuang ethnic cultural flavor there. The only minus is that the traffic is inconvenient and it is hard to found supermarket for shopping around.Written 8 January 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TheBestLifeYetSingapore144 contributionsMy hotel spa was fully booked so I asked my hotel concierge to recommend a good place for a spa. They recommended this place as one of the best in Guilin (which, if you google for Massage places in Guilin, you will realise that there is not much choice).
Speaking Chinese is essential as none of the staff spoke English. With my pidgin Chinese, I managed to pick a 2 hour massage package and a 1 hour foot massage. I opted for the more expensive 2 hour package (2 hr for 268 RMB) instead of the slightly cheaper Tui Na package. It was an interesting option; not something I would pick again, but certainly worth a first try.
The massage started fairly innocently with them putting a bag of warm stones on my back and rolling it up and down. It felt pretty good although i personally prefer more deep tissue massage digging into my tired muscles.
Shortly after, my masseuse started putting towels on me, and then i felt him pour a liquid on me. I started to hear some flicking sounds, and then felt a warmth on my back. He kept asking me to tell him when it was too hot, and when i finally did, he did something to remove the heat.
I was really curious and decided to see what they were doing to my mom, who was bed next to mine. Essentially, the masseuse put a lighter on the towel on my mom's back and then set it on fire! When my mom gave the signal, the masseuse would then put another towel over the flames and put it out. A bit scary to watch, but an interesting experience anyway!
All in all, we had a good experience here and would come back. Prices are very attractive (they start at 88 RMB for an hour for basics). They also serve light refreshments, which are included in the cost. After the massage, you can walk along the river, which is very pleasant. Enjoy!
