- Gerry LHuizhou, China29 contributionsWonderful place to visit, in the middle of a large city.
Unfortunately we went on a nice weather day during Chinese New Year 2019, and it was thronged with crowdsWritten 10 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. However, I could not understand the purpose of this gate, as the river is immediately in front of it, so I assume, it was placed strategically not to allow continuous hordes to form a frontal attack. I would, certainly, send my compliments to the authorities for having kept it so meticulously. The gate itself is just a piece of history, which we can finish in about half an hour. I noticed extremely well laid out landscape lighting, so I assume it would be a sight to behold in the night.Written 5 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Youwin-WewinFoshan, China176 contributionsThis place has three main areas of visit, the Hong Hua (Red Flower) lake is part of the (much bigger) West Lake of GuangDong's HuiZhou. Not to be confused with the West Lake of ZheJiang's HangZhou. The walking path around the Hong Hua lake is well maintained, and has many "breaks" in the shapes of pavilions, which are like viewing points. A tourist can take a breather break at these pavilions. Also, there are a couple of places where you can hire, either a paddle boat, or an electric boat to cruise around the lake. I found half an hour to be enough. You could also take a boat "bus", which seats about 18 passengers, if you don't want the personal boats.
On the other end, there's the West Lake, which is more for bicycling with an 18 kilometres circular track around the major part of the lake.
There also is another attraction for climbing. That's the GaoBang Hill. I did the hill late evening and was rewarded by a very well lit up pavilion at the peak. Also a good view of the city of HuiZhou.
I must appreciate that the authorities have put in the extra efforts to keep the area very clean, especially during the National Day week-long vacation, when the inflow of tourists is HUGE.
If you really want to do justice to visiting this attraction, make sure you have a comfortable pair of shoes.Written 5 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The temperature is fairly constant with daily highs in the 21C to 23C range throughout the year. Nice coastal beach, but the water is too chilly for me.Written 2 May 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - VATraveler55Havelock, NC53 contributionsSome friends and I visited Daya bay recently and I was very impressed with the area. There is a brand new hotel and beach resort, with restaurants and what appears to be continuing development with shopping and residential structures under construction. The town of Daya is a short drive away and the bay at that area is home to much more commercial traffic. The resort area is approximately a 20 minute drive from the town proper.Written 11 April 2013This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - KodoDrummerBuenos Aires, Argentina65,207 contributionsLots of activities at this nice beach. The April water is a little chilly for most, but it is nice and clear. - LeonhknyHong Kong, China14,495 contributionsThis was the city center of Huizhou. Restored to its former grandeur, Shuidong Street is now the hip tourist area of the Guangdong city. The former stately buildings are now converted to trendy restaurants and food stalls. There is also a lively night market after sunset.Written 12 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- LeonhknyHong Kong, China14,495 contributionsThis is the central shopping mall of Huizhou, a mid-sized Guangdong city nicknamed "the backyard of Shenzhen." Although incomparable to large malls in nearby megacities, it is a great option to understand the local life. The rooftop offers a panorama of downtown Huizhou.Written 7 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
