This is an amazingly maintained Roman amphitheatre which reminded us very much of the Rome colosseum. You can explore inside and they have a small exhibition. Nothing special if you have been to Rome, but if not - this is a great place to see!

What a wonderful experience. Patrizia was a perfect host. Friendly and knowledgeable. I opted for the Taste of Istria, with 8 wines and local finger food paired with the wines.
The wines themselves were very impressive, across the range, sparkling, white and red with the finale of the mistletoe grappa a great finish. This is a great way to experience the finest wines the area has to offer and it also represents unbelievable value for money! If you are a wine novice or someone with a good wine knowledge it’s a great way to spend a couple of hours.

Another site that I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to see, but if you're already in Pula, then it's definitely a place to visit. Historically, and architecturally its a really interesting site. Built between 2 BC and 14 AD, it's one of the oldest structures that I have personally even seen. That being said though, apparently it was destroyed by a bomb in WWII and reconstructed, so I'm not sure how much of it is still original. Still, an important site to see if you're visiting Pula to see history.

Located not too far from the Amphitheatre, this self-glorifying monument was built by Lucius Sergius Lepidus in the 1st century BC to commemorate three members of the Sergii family, including Lucius Sergius Lepidus himself, a tribune who served in the twenty-ninth legion that participated in the Battle of Actium. He fought against Mark Anthony and Cleopatra.

The Sergii were a powerful family of officials in the colony and retained their power for centuries.

Small, the arch has fluted columns, a winged victory and Corinthian capitals. The frieze has a bas-relief with a chariot drawn by horses.

Take a few pictures and continue your stroll - you may want to consider stopping at Cafe Uliks located on your right as you pass under the arch. Remember to say hello to James Joyce.

We had a pleasant hour learning about the history of olive oil. Nicely laid out museum with very helpful staff and a good shop. We didn’t do the tasting but that looked good too. Haven’t given it 5 stars as at the end of day it’s about olive oil.

I really wanted to try some local Istrian wines and this winery did not disappoint! We did a tasting trying many different kinds of of wine. Our host, Irena, was so kind and so passionate about the wine they produce. I highly recommend Food and Wine Trapan for anyone looking to try some wine in the area. Both casual wine lovers and true enthusiasts will love the wine and the host!
