Our guide and our driver picked us up from the hotel right on time in the morning. The minibus was very clean with a proper driver and a bilingual guide who grew up in Miami. It's a good start.
After a 30 min drive we reached a river from where the boat trip would start. These 30 min were put to good use by our guide who told us about the Canal s construction and Panama in general.
We then sailed on the canal and the gatun lake on a flat bottom speedboat. Again the boat captain was as apt as our minibus driver and a very good spotter of animals in the trees.
We then had a walk in the forest on the pipeline walk a forest again rich of animals and insects sighting.
A quick lunch at a simple but good enough local restaurant completed the tour before riding back to the hotel.
We genuinely enjoyed the tour which was a great opportunity to mix experiencing the canal and great nature sightseeing.
The whole organisation felt very fluid and secure.
It's a bit expensive but if it fits your budget then it's worth every penny.

What a great tour. Really enjoyed our day going through the canal. Was just the right amount of time. Guide provided a lot of good information.

Guide was a wealth of knowledge on both the locks and Panama. The tour ship travels in the locks with a cargo ship, so when that ship broke down approaching the 1st lock we had to wait for the next one. Because of the delay we didn't travel into the lake. Still worth seeing the operation from the water. Grey Line only looks after the transport to the tour ship. They missed a hotel drop for one couple and dropped them at another hotel and told them to get a taxi.

This was a fantastic trip-well organized and well worth the time and money. From the pickup at my hotel to the drop-off some six hours later, the whole operation was very smooth and comfortable. Of course, seeing the canal, experiencing the working of the locks, seeing the huge ships navigating the canal. Being part of all that on the water, that was amazing. All the services were well-organized. Breakfast, lunch, bathrooms, drinks free and for sale, the quality of the narration and explanation of the operations and history, all of this was excellent.

Some recommendations: (1) It’s very hot in Panama. Go in the morning when the temperatures are mildest. (2) Bring a hat, umbrella, etc to shade you from the sun if you are going to spend a lot of time on the upper decks. (3) Decide what is a priority - seeing a lot or staying cool. This will determine what kind of seat you want to find (hot outside, cool inside) . (3) The forward deck is where you will see the most. There are benches there for you to sit but it is also where people congregate to take pictures. (4) Relax on the early part of the trip. The real pictures, the most interesting ones, Combe when you start to enter the locks. (5) Use sunscreen if you are spending a lot of time on the outside decks. Even in cloudy weather you will get sunburned. (6) Since the water around the canal is generally clam, there is little danger of getting seasick.
    (7) Read David McCullogh’s book “The Path Between the Seas” to gain a better understanding of thre complexities and dangers of building the canal before you come. It will expand your experiences hugely.

This was a very memorable trip. The tour company did a great job of making the journey enjoyable, Five stars

This was an amazing tour!! Mario was our guide and he was awesome, went out of his way to make this experience memorable! We started with the hike and had a great guide who led us to the top. The hike is tough but so worth the view! The hiking guide had to take my hand a few times to help me up when I got tired but he was very encouraging and helped me reach the top! The hike down is easy and leads to a waterfall that you get a chance to swim in (although the water is a bit chilly). Then we went to the local town to have lunch. The restaurant we went to was very affordable and was situated next to the markets so we had a chance to shop around! The souvenirs here are very cheap so this is a great place to buy gifts to take home! We then went to the zoo and Mario bought a few bags of bananas so that we were able to feed most of the zoo animals! Feeding the Tapir was the coolest and I got some great photos! Mario guided us around the zoo, interacting with all of the animals to give us a cooler experience! We then ended the day at the thermal pools (the water is luke warm rather than hot). The pools felt amazing after a long morning of hiking! We were given mud masks to rub on our faces and arms as well! Overall, an amazing day!!

I took part on a Casco Viejo Pub Crawl. I gave 5/5 because the hosts were great people and did there best to entertain the guests. The hosts attended to everyone in the group and got people interacting with each other. They made you feel comfortable and at ease. Now for the critique. I’m not into drinking low grade liquor and that’s what was offered. Also, I was hoping to go to the more known Bars like Tantalo. The choices of venues were a little disappointing. We didn’t get to mingle with the locals because there weren’t many people at the different locations. The one club we were taken to was extremely crowded with teenagers. Finally, I would recommend taking future guests to the places that are the must sees for Casco Viejo. The hosts were great. They just need to improve the venues and drink choices. If they were trying to get business for the bars we went to, then I get it. Not complaining, just making recommendations. Gracias por todo!

This tour is incredible! We booked it in November and planned our entire vacation around it. The history is amazing and experiencing the canal as just as amazing. I have been wanting to do this all of my life. It was worth the entire trip. Fortunately, my husband humored me. We spent 9 days in the country. All of it was wonderful! Going through each phase of each lock is an experience to be appreciated. And seeing all the ships passing through! We were on a small boat (held about 160-180) and traveled through all the locks with 3 sailboats. Our boat served breakfast and lunch and snacks with coffee (very good), water, beer and wine available. Beer and wine were an extra cost. It was fully guided in English and Spanish by a knowledgeable guide. If you asked a question, it got answered.
There were inside, air-conditioned decks with large windows and also open decks (partially covered) for viewing and pictures. People shared indoor tables with other people, strangers and friends. We spent the day with a couple from Northern California. His 80th birthday was celebrated as he crossed the canal off his bucket list!
Sunscreen and water were a necessity. They provide as much water as you can drink. Also, several restrooms. Many passengers disembarked in the Gamboa area of the Gatun Lake.
After the last lock, you travel to a marina off the coast of Colon on the Atlantic side. Then there's a bus ride back to the point of beginning to catch the bus to hotels.
It was a full day and an unbelievable experience. Wow!

We've been on many food tours around the world. This tour definitely featured quality over quantity. The geisha coffee and rum alone were worth the price. Having it explained and traveling with our guide made for a wonderful evening. I love the shows Feed Phil, or Stanley Tucci that show you the foods of the country, the part you miss by just going where they go is the connection with the people. I do food tours for the history and information. So while I didn't love the beer at La rana Darado, I did love hearing about the 10% that goes the research to save the frog. Great experience!

We really wanted to take this tour and we’re very glad we did. It was a very long day (starting at 5:30 am pickup and 7:30 pm drop off) but worth the time. If there was any complaint it would be that the seating was not particularly comfortable (hard plastic chairs on the top deck, which is where you want to spend most of your time). Lots of opportunities for pictures and a good learning experience through the narrator on board. The food was good and the staff were nice. You take a bus ride home which is not particularly exciting but it does take you through a couple of smaller towns. We went on the trip before Covid became an issue so not sure how it would be done now.

This trip was just enough. The partial transit put us on the water with the rising water levels of the locks, a relatively short period of time moving from one to the other.
The boat was of a good size with good views of the happenings.
Our guide JC was knowledgeable and friendly as were the rest of the crew. We were served breakfast and lunch while aboard ship.
My one complaint is that finding the point of departure was challenging. I had given myself 30 minutes to be lost and just made it to the boat prior to launch.
This 5 hour activity is time well spent.

Jesus was an amazing guide showing me around Casco Viejo and all the local spots. Great food and great history lesson 10/10

We went for rum tasting, had some snacks, a famous rooftop bar and then to a museum appreciating all the local indigenous culture.

It was a great day with Jesus. Highly recommend.

Everything about the Canal is dependent upon the Canal management. We arrived in the dark and waited until sunrise to queue up for the transit. Boat was comfortable. Food was less than mediocre. The transit and discussion were great. Trinkets are to be avoided.
