- VELZAlberta, Canada18 contributionsI went there my my family from Transylvania, and my daughter from Canada. We went on a day trip. It was an unexpected surprise! From the walk through the trees, up a slight hill to the magical castle of the first President of Romania(used to be his summer palace).
From the lawns, to the cafe, to the tours of the interior, it was amazing! Every room is so different in decor. We loved the turkish room the best. And, the libarary. Oh the history!
Give yourself the whole day, and take your time. Then on the way back down to your vehicle, take in the amazing markets and food. Superb!Written 3 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - muttibeyIzmir, Türkiye686 contributionsOne of the small churches in the heart of Bucharest. It is small but very impressive as well. Take time of your 5-10 minutes and make sure you go and see inside.Written 24 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NicoletteN.Kós, Greece6 contributionsOne of the best attractions in the world. It is the 2nd largest building in the world, which the former president of communism did not manage to enjoy. It is something that anyone should see. It would be good if you had already made a reservation in advance, as it is difficult to find an immediate seat. The only negative is that they don't show many areas ..like for ex. , their bedroom or bathroom like they did in the past when the museum opened.Written 28 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - muttibeyIzmir, Türkiye686 contributionsI am not sure if I should have visited inside unless it is allowed of course but I must say from the outside the building and it’s surroundings are very impressive and beautiful.Written 23 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Nicôle + KurtMaidstone, UK37 contributionsThis castle was surrounded by a beautiful garden areas that appeared to be free to enter (obviously entry to the actual castle is not free).
The castle itself sits a the top of a steep hill within the gardens. The castle is full of exhibits to see and is very well maintained.
For those that aren’t aware although this is known as ‘Dracula’s Castle’ the attraction itself is mostly related to this real life history of the castle and not the stories that have become associated with it. That being said, it’s still a must see castle in Romania.
The area surrounding the castle is very ‘tourist-y’, with lots of shops and stalls to buy food and souvenirs.
The castle doesn’t seem to have any official parking, although there’s a fair amount of paid and free parking areas around Bran.Written 29 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. If travelling from Curtea De Arges north, the landscape is in two contrasting halves. The first half until you arrive at the long tunnel is forested with deep valleys. Our drive in mid-October saw beautiful autumn colours here and with plenty of areas to stop, there are good photo opportunities all along the route. Of the two halves, we think the first half is the most picturesque although as a drive the second half is perhaps a little more dramatic. The weather was cloudy but dry but amazingly after emerging on the other side of the tunnel we had climbed higher and it was a completely different day, noticeably colder, raining hard and by the time we reached Balea Lake there was plenty of snow on the mountain side. Unfortunately, the weather was not conducive to exploring the lake area. The landscape on this side is much more rugged. The descent is spectacular with multiple hairpin bends. Good idea to take a photo of the road descent from the top point. There are a couple of roadside parking areas which allow this.
Road conditions generally were fine, much of the route has been fairly recently resurfaced, so overall, the driving experience was smooth, there were just a few areas when the surface was quite rough and needed care around some potholes. Mid-October a good time to visit as the roads were very quiet.Written 23 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Terry LLondon, UK7 contributionsDefinitely come and visit if you are in Sibiu. It can get a bit chilly in the winter but walking through the museum makes you forget about the cold. It was simply amazing and I've spent close to 4 hour inside (including a lucnh break).Written 29 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
