An amazing day trip from Sofia, with my fantastic and extremely knowledgeable guide Meto. I ended up being the only one on the tour and appreciated the opportunity to ask Meto all the questions I had about Bulgarian history, culture and film - he’s like an encyclopaedia! All the stops on the tour were beautiful, fascinating and diverse, and the afternoon in Plovdiv was fantastic - what a lovely city. Highly recommend this trip when visiting Sofia to experience a different region of Bulgaria outside of the city centre and hotspots.

Excellent trip to Lovech and the surrounding natural areas around the town. This is a must do trip to see the natural beauty of Bulgaria. Dimitr was my tour guide and if you get him I can guarantee you are in for a good trip! Thank you for the wonderful adventure!

What an amazing place to visit. Rich in history, culture and well preserved historic sites. Vibrant old town for shopping, dining, or just strolling around town. I only wish I stayed a couple nights to fully explore and enjoy this place.

The highlight of our Bulgaria trip! We were worried about whether the experience would be worth it considering it is about 3h30 drive from Sofia (so 7h both ways), but it was absolutely incredible. The rocks/fortress are incredible but the best part is the view at the top of them, simply breathtaking! Pictures don't do it justice at all.

Our driver and guide Ventsislav was so great and accommodating, as well as knowledgeable. He knew a lot about the rocks, fortress and the good spots for pictures or interesting facts. The experience also felt very private in a way as you share it with a group of 5-7 people, so that's an added bonus.

We ended up visiting the Magura cave as the Venetsa Cave was closed, and it was very impressive and enjoyable. Absolutely no negatives about the day overall and well worth the time and money.

    10/10, absolutely recommend and a must-do!

Great tour and service for picking us up in the hotel lobby. Got great historical context and interesting conversations during the entire tour. Got a very good feeling on the history of Sofia and Bulgaria in general. English was great, very knowledgeable and polite, would definitely recommend.

It was a perfect tour. Ventsislav is a very good guide and he also was very helpfull. We went first to Bashkovo, then to the fortress and finally we had plenty of time in Plovdiv before returning to Sofia. Thanks!

I’ll join the chorus of those singing the praises of this terrific company. I brought a group of university students to Sophia and contacted City Tour about the 2-hour walking tour. City Tour was prompt in responding to my queries, was very flexible in dealing with our tight schedule, and, most importantly, delivered an outstanding tour. Ivan the Great, our tour guide, was informative, patient, and funny. We all learned so much about ancient and modern Sofia and Bulgaria during our brief tour. The two hour walking tour was a terrific vale and I would definitely use their services again. I highly recommend them!

"Rila Shuttle" was very a good option for our tour from Sofia to Rila Monastery and Plovdiv city. Everything was on time, well organized and we had enough time to see all the locations without many tourists. A special mention to Philip, our tour leader of the day: he was very professional and very kind (he answered to all my hundred questions). :-)

I had originally signed up for the Rila Seven Lake Hike and Monastery tour but there was too much snow for the hike so switched to this tour instead. Phillip G. Was very helpful when communicating about this issue in advance. Boyana Church is a little gem…even if you have to pay 10lev on top of the tour price , only get ten minutes inside and can’t take pics. The frescoes are amazing.
Our Tourguide: Liubomir Petkashev was outstanding. I’m always impressed with guides who run the sane tour day in and day out who still manage to be enthusiastic and supportive.
The bus was comfy and the trip there went fast with the beautiful views of the countryside.
The Rila Mountain region is stunning and the Monastery is definitely worth the trip. We also had the option of joining the St. Ivan cave tour group (again for an extra 10lev) but I would say go for it if you don’t mind a 15 minute uphill hike there.
Really glad I booked this day trip from Sofia.

Fab time on this bar crawl tour. The history of the bar, gave the group a common talking point, and the guide was so knowledgeable. Right amount of bars, friendly and in walking distance of each other. Free drink in every bar, we extra drinks too. Ended in a club, great atmosphere even on a Monday. Highly recommended as long as you want to drink, and have interest in history.
