I had a great half-day tour (by bike) of some of the architecture of the city with the business owner Andreas. It was a private tour and though I was a solo traveller he didn’t charge me a singles-supplement and the trip cost the same as the listed price.
He was very punctual. He arrive at my hotel a little earlier than planned and we delivered me back right right on the predicted time. The bike was fine. It was a 27 speed Fuji hybrid with disc brakes and everything worked perfectly. A helmet was supplied too and gloves and buffs (bandana) were available.
Andreas had selected some of the most important and interesting features of the city’s built environment for us to visit. This included a couple of parks, the 1910 railways station, some of the most significant museums, the new president’s residence, plus a few hidden gems such as some of the older houses. We didn’t enter any of the museums but I guess the tour could have been turned into a full day tour by going into these.
Andreas is no ordinary guide. He was very attentive and accommodating. He’s lived and worked in the city for many years and knows it and it’s culture intimately. He’s also works as an architect so was able to explain the history and provide some very deep insights into the artistic and socio-political interpretations of all of the buildings and parks we visited. His English is excellent as is his Italian. Also there was no hard sell of any extras and he didn’t take me to his friends and relatives businesses which can happen on some tours.
I highly recommended this company’s services and I’ll be using them again on my return to Santiago.
